SportExcel Tip of the Week:

3 Steps to Sport Cross-Training Results

March 6, 2012

                                  Vol. 17, Issue 2

Bob Palmer
Spring is in the air!  I may be a little optimistic because where I live in Canada we are still skiing and enjoying brisk temperatures.  However, I know that spring is just around the corner because a gadget on my computer shows me that my friends in East Texas are enjoying 75 degrees F and I'm jealous.

However, the days are getting longer, the birds are starting to sing courting songs and many of my athletes are stepping up their training in anticipation for another great spring and summer season.

The theme for this week's training tip is getting your training off on the right foot.  The video is about running as sport or as cross-training, but the strategy can be used in any sport, so give it a view.

The video speaks to the issue of slow starts and taking a long time to warm up, either in each run or at the beginning of your season.

It will give you a strategy to help you to step right in where you left off in your last run, relaxed and in the Zone.  And, even if you aren't a runner, the same principles can be applied to components of any game.

How elite athletes target high performance physiology from the get-go

Our athletes say...

Katie Tsuyuki "I am a half pipe snowboarder who has been competing for almost ten years.  I have spent years on the National team and have worked with various sports psychologists.  Even with this experience I used to suffer from competition anxiety at every contest.

"I found that SportExcel has given me practical techniques which are easy to apply to competing and life situations. With extreme sport comes high risk and SportExcel also helps me prepare for performing new tricks and riding at an elevated level, including higher amplitude.

"I can definitely say that I have the edge on other riders out there."
