Meet Anita Amirrezvani, Author of Bestselling Novel The Blood of Flowers Wednesday, November 10th 6:30 pm.- 7:30 p.m. Chabot College 25555 Hesperian Blvd., Rm 804 The Blood of Flowers tells the story of a seventeenth-century Persian teen who becomes a servant to her wealthy rug designer uncle in the court of Shah Abbas the Great, where her weaving talents prove both a blessing and curse. Ms. Amirrezvani will read from and discuss her novel. The Mostly Literary Fiction Book Discussion Group meeting on Monday, November 8 will discuss this title. Ms. Amirrezvani was born in Iran and lives in Northern California. She was a dance critic for local newspapers and has received fellowships from the National Arts Journalism Program, the NEA's Arts Journalism Institute for Dance, and the Hedgebrook Foundation for Women Writers. Co-sponsored by Chabot College, the Hayward Public Library, the Friends of the Hayward Library, and the AAUW Hayward/Castro Valley Branch.

Announcing the Hayward Paratransit Program's new shuttle service! Riders who board at designated shuttle stops will ride FREE of charge. Registered riders may ride with attendants or companions. Meet Lian Gouw, Author of Only a Girl Tuesday, November 9th 6:00-7:45 p.m. Main Library Come and hear author Lian Gouw read from her novel and discuss it's fascinating historical themes. This book takes place during the Indonesian Revolution in the 1940s. The plot follows three generations of Chinese women as they struggle for identity against a political backdrop of world depression, World War II and the Indonesian fight for independence from Dutch rule and Japanese occupation.
