From Sandi Wollum
Seabury's students have been shining stars this week!
At the science fair, we saw our students' inquisitiveness and ability to "do" science. Their projects were inventive and their projects were fascinating. I learned about the best angles for hockey shots, how a heart works, and how to instantly freeze water, just to name a few. Amazing work by amazing kids! Tomorrow, two teams of Lower School students and two teams of Middle School students will compete in the regional Destination Imagination competition. This morning, at the Lower School's weekly all school gathering, three of the teams previewed their DI projects. DI requires competitors to find solutions to challenges that involve acting, engineering, teamwork and creative problem solving. The students' teamwork, creative problem solving skills and ingenuity were all incredible, and we can't wait to see how they do in the competition. Tomorrow night, we gather to celebrate the true stars of Seabury - our students. Our bright, creative, intuitive, inventive children are the reason Seabury exists. At this time of year, during admissions season, I hear story after story of children like ours who are in school settings where their talents and abilities have come to be seen as challenges or liabilities rather than gifts to be nurtured and celebrated. At Seabury, our children have the chance to shine - to learn and grow and thrive in an environment designed specifically for them. And shine they do!! I'll see you at the Seabury STAR Auction, A Platinum Celebration, tomorrow night! And as we shop and eat and visit, let's celebrate the real stars of Seabury: our children - past, present and the children yet to come. Your support today will not only benefit our current programs, but will also pave the way to make Seabury a place where bright children can shine for years to come. See you at the auction!

DI Teams to Compete Destination Imagination teams have been working for months in preparation for tomorrow's regional tournament in Rochester, Washington. Thanks to Seabury alum, Grace Oberhofer, and her mom and Seabury supporter extraordinaire, Jill Goodman, our DI program was revived this year. 18 of our students, along with numerous parent volunteers will be participating in the tournament. We wish them the best of luck, and look forward to celebrating their success next week!
