From the Head of School

Happy New Year!  It is great to have all our bright, shiny faces back at school this week!

Our students do amazing things, and right before break our middle school students wrote exceptional essays, similar to those in the "This I Believe" radio series. Read more about them in this week's "Seabloggery" entry.  And if you haven't checked out our classroom blogs lately, take a minute to see what's going on around the school!

Mrs. Gellert and Mrs. Ritchie are proud to announce that one of their Beacons, was published in the 2008 Edition literary magazine Anthology of Short Stories by Young Americans™.  The student's story was titled The King and Queen, and was written when she was in the Superstars class and only 5 years old.  Congratulations go out to this awesome student!  To read the story or to learn more, talk to Mrs. Gellert or Mrs. Ritchie.

Are there "Seabury kids" on your child's soccer team?  In his/her play group?  At dance class?  Seabury's parents and supporters are the best source of information for people in the community about the benefits of a Seabury education. There are a number of upcoming events that would be great opportunities to introduce Seabury to parents whose children would benefit from a Seabury education.  You are encouraged to attend yourself, as well!

Why Seabury kids are so fit!

Besides having Nancy Nelson, our Physical Education teacher work with the students at the lower school campus, and the use of the YMCA at the middle school campus for PE, many of our students participate in after school activities.  Recently, Halley Griffin, MS secretary and LS French teacher for the Bear Cubs and Superstars, conducted an after school "Hip Hop" club.  The students that attended enjoyed dancing and moving to assorted music.  A final show was held before break and the students were able to wear the artfully adorned t-shirts that they created in the class.  Ask any of the "hip hoppers" to show you how to do their "moves" but be sure that you are very limber!
