  A Night to Remember

Congratulations to all our lower school students for a wonderful winter performance on Tuesday evening!  It was a treat to hear our children making such beautiful music in such an amazing performance space.  We appreciate the Knights of Pythias organization making it possible for us to use Castle Hall, their beautiful lodge room.  Thank you to PBC for providing refreshments in the middle school space after the program, and to the middle school for hosting everyone.

A special thank you to Jakob Breitbach, Seabury's talented music teacher, for working with our children, and preparing them for Tuesday's performance.  Since Jakob started his work at Seabury last January, he has made music come alive for our students.  We are also always grateful when Jakob is joined by his friend, Jes Raymond, and when we get to hear them perform together as they did at the end of Tuesday's program.  If you are interested finding out where you can hear Jakob and Jes perform in the area, check out www.jesraymond.com and

Destination Imagination

Destination Imagination teams are forming for competition this spring.  If you or your child is still interested in participating, we need to have their registration information prior to winter break in order to get our teams registered.  We are so grateful to Seabury alum Grace Oberhofer, and to her mom, Jill Goodman, for spearheading the rebirth of DI at Seabury.  For more information about the competition, take a look at www.idodi.org and http://www.wa-di.org/

Inclement Weather

The weather service tells us that our cold, dry weather will be changing over the weekend.  It's a good time to be reminded about our plans for school schedule changes in inclement weather.

Seabury typically follows Federal Way school district's school closure plans because so many of our families travel through Federal Way on their way to both our campuses. Any schedule changes, either late starts or school cancellations, will apply to both Seabury campuses.
(http://www.fwps.org/info/emergencies/index.html).  Also, our class representatives will call parents when Seabury is closed.

In the event of snow or ice, or other circumstances that would require the school's schedule to change, check www.schoolreport.org for information about Seabury's plans.  When possible, we will also email families and place a message on our phones with schedule change information.

Our families come from a wide area, and weather can vary across the region.  Please use your judgment regarding whether you feel comfortable on the roads in challenging weather conditions.  Your family's safety is important to us.  Please keep your child home from school in the event that school is open but you don't feel safe driving in your neighborhood.

Please remember to dress your child in layers for school.  By layers, we mean for parents to provide gloves, hats, warm coats and layers of clothing that can be "peeled" off if your child gets too warm.  Boots are fine for wet weather; if your child wears boots to school, please be sure to leave a pair of tennis shoes at school or have your child bring a pair in their backpack.  For wet days when the puddles are most encouraging, you may consider leaving an extra change of clothes at school.  Keeping your children warm and happy at school benefits all of us.  Thank you for working with us at Seabury.
