Parent Coffees
Please plan to join fellow parents at our monthly Parent Coffees. The first Friday of each month, we will have coffee at the Lower School campus, generously provided by Starbucks on Hoyt Road. Parents are then invited to stay for Gathering at 8:30 as we celebrate the accomplishments of the week. The third Thursday of each month, parents are invited to coffee downtown at the Tully's near the middle school (the Triangle Tully's across from the Pantages Theater). We'll meet after drop off at 8:30 for coffee and conversation. First Friday and Third Thursday coffees are designed to give parents a chance to meet and mingle. Sandi will also have parent resources to share for those who are interested. All parents are invited to coffees at either, or both, campuses. See you there! |

MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS
To begin the first day, we posed the question: What does it mean to be a Middle School student?
Here are some of the responses that we received today: · More trusted to take on a higher level of independence, to keep things in school clean and organized, to be on our best behavior.
· A higher level of independence in completing work and following through with expectations.
· Expected to interact respectfully with community members.
· Allowed to participate in school decision making.
· Looking at the middle school years as preparation for high school
· Trusted to travel safely in the City of Tacoma
· Taking greater responsibility for ourselves
We are tremendously excited to work with this group of students this year and recognize the huge potential for growth! Paul Gozenbach and Toby Welch

Healthy Students
We are committed to doing everything we can to keep Seabury children healthy. Teachers are encouraging students to wash hands thoroughly and frequently, and are sanitizing classroom surfaces regularly. Please remember to keep your child home from school if your child is ill. Seabury's policies require children to stay at home if they have had a fever, or have vomited or had diarrhea, in the previous 24 hours. In order to protect all our students, sick children will be sent home, particularly if they are showing any "flu-like symptoms." Please make sure you have made arrangements for your child to be picked up promptly in the event that your child becomes ill during the school day. Your help is appreciated!

Quote of the Week
One of our newest students was asked to write a letter to himself on the first day of school - a letter to be read again at the end of the year. After just a couple hours at school he wrote: "I think I'm making my destiny. This school Rocks!" |
