Second Week in Greytown.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kwandunge High School 70Km north of Greytown.
The second week of the trip was one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. We started the week off at Kwandunge High School. The kids at this school were not as fluent in English as the previous schools. This made the teaching a little more challenging. When we started the week off the kids didn't seem very enthusiastic about our teachings. They were all quiet and we had a very hard time getting kids to participate. For some odd reason we had a complete turnaround on the last day of teaching. Everyday the team prayed for the Holy Spirit to be with us while we spoke to those Kids.
I have to believe it was the lord that changed those kid's hearts because I don't think we were teaching any different then the first two days. It was so great to see most of the kids jumping out of their seats to answer questions or play a game. For a while I didn't think we were in the same class or even the same school. The attached picture doesn't even show how grateful these kids were. On this last day we had a crowd from all over the school sending us off.
The most rewarding moment of the Trip was when a little girl from the school pulled me aside and said she brought her own camera to take my picture. She said she wanted a picture because she never wanted to forget me. I have told that story at least 100 times and every time it makes me think of all the kids we met on this trip. Most of the kids in Africa are by far the most humble, honest, SMART and grateful people I have ever met.
That little girl made the all the training, fund-raising, being away from my family and even the long flight worth it.
Zodwa's kids. Now that I'm back I have the hardest time thinking of what I need to do help these Kids. I wish I had the gift to speak to the people back at home and tell them of all the innocent kids that need just a little support. In my heart I know these kids could have a better future if we could find them a little support. I have made the commitment to find at least two people that will help sponsor kids in Africa.
Clement's kids.Nick's Prospective.
I asked my son about the trip and he said he will never forget the trips to Zodwa's or Clement's Orphanages. He said playing with those kids made him very grateful for what he has. He also said he truly wanted to speak to his friends and his friends parents about the trip. The interaction we had on this Trip is something I know we both will never forget. I would like to close in giving our fellow Teammate Mark a lot of Praise. Due to the size of the car we were in Mark and Nick were always in the back seat together. There were times when they were back there for hours and Mark always treated Nick with respect and patience Mark was great at keeping Nick loose and allowed me not to take the trip to serious which made the trip very enjoyable. "Thanks Mark"
