Beacon of Hope News
December 2008
Greetings!

We have much to be grateful for in 2008 as we have just passed by Thanksgiving and are now just a few short days away from Christmas.  A handful of people started making a monthly pledge to support our ongoing activity.  These contributions enabled us to start give our four training teams $100 per month for each team to help them with their ongoing expenses.  God has mutiplied these small contributions just like the fishes and the loaves.  We are now preparing for 12 teams to teach for 36 weeks during 2009 and this will enable our teams to reach perhaps as many as 40,000 studentsin 2009.  South Africa and the surrounding countries represent the area of the world that is the most severely affected by HIV/AIDS.  It is estimated that as many as one in five are infected.  If you believe in what we are doing to try and stop the spead of HIV, then we ask you to consider joining our small band of monthy contributors and see how God multipies your contribution in 2009.

Peace,

IZULU Orphan Project Christmas Party
IZULU Party
by Chadd & Kate

Kate and Chadd Bain are one of two missionary couples that were appointed in 2007 by Horizon International to manage the Horizon AIDS orphan program.  They have more than 700 children in here are that are benifitting from their ministry in one way or another.  We still have about 150 Orphans on the Horizon sponsor ship list that we still need to find sponsors for.

"What a success! There are so many people to thank, so many of you pulled together and made our Orphan Christmas Party such an incredible day! It is so true when I say every year gets better and better. Our children and caregivers were spoiled beyond their wildest dreams! They really had the
best day ever!

"I really want to thank Revlon and Frank at Unilever for the gifts for our caregivers. The ladies who work for us have told me that the gogos were so moved that they felt like God himself gave them the presents. What a great surprise that was for them. I would also like to personally say a huge thank-you to all the volunteers that joined us on the day. Because of them, we managed to pull of this huge, incredibly successful party with such organization and fun. I would also like to thank ECR Toy Story and iLembe Technologies for giving most of the children's gifts. This is really the highlight for our orphans - hmm, and the party packs! There are really so many people to thank, for the viennas, rolls, juices, party packs, packaging, the list goes on and on. But what I really want to say is that the real point was made to these children. They know that there are people who care and that they are loved! The grandmothers - 'gogos' - know that they are not alone in this fight against HIV/Aids and in raising up this abandoned generation. We all did an exceedingly excellent job and it could not have been better! I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart, who made this all possible."
Student Feedback
Kids Dancing "Your program has opened my eyes. It made me see what is waiting for us out there. " . . . . "I am young and I have much to look forward for." . . ."Your love passion and hunger for people to know what AIDS do to people brought you here and I thank you for that. You taught me more that I did not know and it was an honor to be with you. We young people live for today and to and forget about tomorrow but I'm not one of those. I'm going to save myself and control myself so that, I may not regret my actions that I took in future. Thank you for sharing your information with us. It meant a lot to me."
Meet Kehinde (Kenny) & Comfort Famabifobee
Kenny & Comfort
Kehinde (Kenny) and Comfort Famabifobee are the leaders of the southern area for the city of eSikhawini.  They are Nigerians and after completing his seminary school training in South Africa, he felt led to stay in South Africa to minister to the Zulus.  His primary ministry is going around to the schools in his city preaching brief sermons to the students during the early morning assembly time.  What a concept! Giving the kids a little bit of Jesus every day.  This ministry has put him in a good position to establish a good working relationship with the school principals and open the doors for us to be able to go in and teach our message at his ministry schools.  Kenny and Comfort are in the process of trying to get permanent residence in South Africa.
