Greetings! If you are receiving this special mission trip 2009 newsletter it is because you have either already participated with us on one of our previous mission trips to South Africa or you have expressed an interest in possibly coming with us on a future trip. We are in the early stages of planning for the 2009 trip but time is flashing by. We are just six weeks from Thanksgiving, then Christmas and before we know it we will need to reserve our tickets.
As a result of our 2008 mission trip we reached a few noteworthy milestones that I will share in the hopes that it will inspire you to want to come with us in 2009.

Milestone #1 ...
When we took our first mission trip in 2004 the cost per student for them to hear our AIDS prevention message was $203. This year because of our small US team and great participation by the local teams the cost per student for the 2008 trip is down to $12.81 per student.
|
Milestone #2 ...
The teams that we have trained are now going back to the schools each week and have trained another 1253 student in August and September. These students were trained at a cost of $1.13 per student but that is because the teams are working virtually for nothing. We are currently paying them a small stipend of $100 per team per month. This doesn't even cover their expenses.
|
Milestone #3 ...
We now have the program going in five cities, Durban, Richards Bay, Empangeni, eSikhawini, and Soshanguve.
Milestone #4 ... We have had a request to train new teaching teams in the city of Greytown and we are working with three other cities, Creighton, Ixopo, and Port Edward, in the hopes that they will also adopt the program in 2009.

So What Is The Next Step?
By the end of the year I would like to have some reasonably firm commitment from those that want to participate in 2009. Which category do you fall in regarding the possibility of a 2009 trip? A) I absolutely will not be able to participate in 2009. B) I am not sure yet but I would like to be on the tentative list and be kept informed on the trip developments. C) I really want to go and will start to plan accordingly. Whichever
category you fall in please send me an email right away and let me know
so that I have some early indication of what kind of a team we might
have in 2009. This will help me a great deal to start planning. If you are in category B or C then go to the website with this link Trip Interest Form and complete the form to give me a little more information.
