Greetings!
This month at Connections for the Homeless we are celebrating a group of people who have made countless contributions of compassion, time, energy, and expertise: VOLUNTEERS! Connections will honor all of the amazing volunteers who share their gifts with their neighbors in need.
Valentines for Volunteers week, February 12th - 18th
Valentines for Volunteers Week will be a time to thank you and a time for us to focus on new ways to support you and improve our volunteer program. You are an essential member of the Connections' team and we want to make sure that we are listening to your feedback about the program. Please take the time to fill out the Volunteer Experience Survey so that we can continue to provide meaningful opportunities for community members who are interested in getting involved. (If you are someone who coordinates cooks for Hilda's Place, please share this newsletter and ask everyone in your group to respond.)
Tuesday, February 14, noon - Valentines for Volunteers luncheon at Hilda's Place. In honor of their service we invite all our volunteers to lunch. RSVP here and take some time to celebrate all of your wonderful accomplishments this year!
Thursday, February 16 at 7:30am we will finish our breakfast series and discuss how we can end homelessness on the North Shore. We would love to have you join us. (Details below).
Thank you all for the amazing work that you do! It would be impossible to provide the same level of services to our clients without the work of our volunteers.
With heartfelt thanks,

Running for Connections for the Homeless
- Kate Siberine, Volunteer Manager
I am thrilled to be running in the 2012 Bank of America Chicago Marathon on behalf of Connections for the Homeless! The average runner takes 52,000 steps during a marathon. As I train to run Chicago, one small step at a time, I hope that you will join me in finding new ways to support the many steps that Connections takes to provide housing, employment, and supportive services to move individuals and families out of the shadow of homelessness.
I am using FirstGiving to raise money for Connections. They make it easy for individuals and community groups to personalize Web pages and share why they are excited to support the work of Connections with their family and friends. Are you running the marathon? Having a birthday? Wanting to develop a charitable fundraiser at your school or church? FirstGiving can help you make everything simple and secure. Please let me know if you have any creative ideas of how you or your group would like to use this great new resource! Check out my fundraising page.
Keep Moving!
