Spread The Flame - NAWBO Membership Contest
Passion fuels your business. It's the fire that drives your
decisions, your risks, and your dreams. But sometimes that fire may sputter and
smoke. We've all been there: The next step seems murky, the business decision
hard, the challenge impossible. For many of us, NAWBO has been a solution in those moments. We talk with fellow
members and they rekindle our fire.
We need to share that
inspirational flame. There are other women business owners out there in our
community who could use this enlightenment from time to time.
Thus the Membership Committee invites you to start thinking
of women business owners who could benefit from joining NAWBO. We invite you to
reach out to them, share what you've gained, and get them to come to our
meetings and seminars.
We will reward those
who spread the flame to others. Bring in a new NAWBO member and you will be
entered into a quarterly drawing for $50
worth of prizes. The prizes may be restaurant gift certificates, free NAWBO
meetings and seminars, and other gifts. At the end of the NAWBO year (June
2011), the members who have brought in the most new members will be entered into
a drawing for a fantastically comfortable desk chair, a $500 donation from
Tricia Burke and Office Environment Company.
How to be counted: Every
NAWBO event at which you bring or attract a prospective member, get one of her
business cards, put your name on the back of it, and drop it in the contest
basket at the sign-in table. No business
card? Fill out an index card with your name, the prospect's name &
business, and her contact info. (We have
your contact info.)
When the prospect
joins our chapter, you are then
entered into the quarterly drawing. Our first quarterly drawing will be at the
Celebration of Entrepreneurship event. (Think of the major name recognition
you'll get there!) Bring in multiple new members - earn multiple entries.
At the end of the year, all the entries for the quarterly
drawings will go into the grand prize drawing. The overall winner will be
announced at our June 2011 meeting.
So go forth and spread the NAWBO flame.

Dear Friend of the Family Business Center: We'd like to offer your clients and members a 10% discount to our special event on November 11th featuring Dave Rife and the White Castle Family. The White Castle executive who skyrocketed to fame by keeping his identity a secret on "Undercover Boss" is coming to Louisville, but this time he's sharing the company's secrets.
Dave Rife and four other White Castle executives are headlining the UofL Family Business Center's "Next Generation Innovation Summit" November 11 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
All five executives are family members with leadership roles in the iconic 89-year-old family-owned chain. Their presentation of "10 Dimensions of Innovation" will reveal how the company famous for "Sliders" continues to generate quiet innovation by tapping the creativity of each succeeding generation. Rife, the great-grandson of the White Castle founder E.W. Ingram, became an overnight celebrity after he got his buns crushed while masquerading as a trainee at one of the company's restaurants for the CBS-TV program "Undercover Boss."
The Summit also will feature similar 'ambidextrous thinking' as used successfully by a family-owned Louisville company, Whip Mix. Founded in 1919, the traditional dental lab was a market leader but faced a crossroads with the rise of digital dentistry in the 70's and 80's. When the company purchased another firm specializing in high-tech dental products, it challenged long-standing family traditions for how the company should operate and grow.
The Summit is sponsored for the FBC by Presenting Sponsor Axiom Financial Strategies Group, Wells Fargo Insurance, The Oliver Group and Middleton Reutlinger, PSC, all of whom specialize in services to family-owned businesses. The Thursday, November 11 program starts at 8:30 a.m. and concludes at 4:00 p.m. Seating is limited and registration is required. Visit www.regonline.com/fbcnovember2010 or call 502.852.4795 for details. The cost is $40 per person for Family Business Center members, $65 for Professional Advisor members and $135 for non-members. Early bird discounts are available for registrations prior to Oct. 1.
