The June 9 workday has been postponed, please stay tuned for an alternate date.

Welcome, Joanna Heflin!

Please help us welcome Joanna Heflin as the SL/R and Fine Arts Assistant.  Joanna comes to Veritas from the National Center of Continuing Education where she worked as a Curriculum Editor and Customer Service Manager for the past four years.  Joanna has nearly ten years of administrative experience in different environments and has been very active in the Christian schools her children attended.  She is an active member of PromiseLand West, where her husband is the Executive Pastor.   Welcome, Joanna!

Community Service Hours

Students looking to earn community service hours this summer are welcome to volunteer to help with various jobs needed on the school campus.  Please contact Joanna Heflin to sign up.

2012-2013 Uniforms

Lands End is currently working on a new and improved School Uniform portal that will be rolled out near the end of June.  This portal will allow parents to enter each child that attends Veritas, create a profile, and view/order exactly what is available to each student depending on the grade level of the child.  We will make these links and instructions available to you as soon as they are rolled out by Lands End.  If you have any questions regarding uniforms, please contact Callie Farrar.

Congratulations, Kim!

Veritas junior Kim Neely was recently awarded 2nd place in the Austin American Statesman's editorial cartoon competition "Speak Out: Picture This," which challenged high school artists in Austin to create cartoons that commented on the use of technology in education.  Chosen out of over 500 entries, Kim's prize includes a $2,000 scholarship to the college of her choice.

7th Graders Excel in Duke TIP

Each year a significant majority of our 6th students qualify to enter the Talent Identification Program ("TIP") sponsored by Duke University by scoring in the 95th percentile or higher in a category on the CTP4 test. One privilege extended these students is the right to take the SAT or ACT in their 7th grade year. This year, five out of our larger pool of qualified 7th graders opted to take either the SAT or the ACT.  Congratulations to the following students who achieved state recognition: Nathaniel Peckman, Graham Wheelock and Rankin White.

8th Grade Class Trip

Our 8th graders recently returned home from their class trip to Washington D.C., where they represented Veritas well while taking in this historical venue.  Special thanks to trip planners Cathy Rioux and Connie Hagen.

Welcome Babies!

No, that is not a typo.  If you noticed Ellen around campus looking a little worn out, its because she has been one busy Oma! The Schuknecht/Dusan families have welcomed two new additions recently.

Elsie Colleen Schuknect made her debut on Sun, May 27, weighing 6lbs 8oz in her 19in frame.  Troy, Stevi, big brother Jude and big sister Greta are all doing well and enjoying sweet baby Elsie.

On the very same day, Peter and Alisa Dusan (Ellen's daughter & son-in-law), brought home Asa Peter.  Asa was greeted at the door by his very excited sister, Haddie. Peter and Alisa recently adopted Asa, and have spent weeks in the NICU in Temple by his side watching God heal this precious life, and waiting for doctors to clear him to come home.  Click here to read more about Asa's journey taken from Ellen's blog.

Congratulations to the Schuknecht and Dusan families on these precious new blessings.
