When buying a new computer, we recommend...
  • New, not refurbished
  • Name brands like: Hp, Sony, Lenovo, Asus, and Dell
  • Processor:  Intel i3 or i5. Avoid AMD or Intel Celeron processors
  • RAM: 4 GB or more.
  • 500 GB hard drive
  • Operating System: Windows 7 64 bit
  • Remember to upgrade your software if you have older NON MICROSOFT software ie: old Quicken or Quickbooks. These will not work with Windows 7 64 bit!

Congratulations, graduates!
Now it's time for a new computer
Here's what we recommend for your soon-to-be college student

Ask what the school or program recommends. The computers and software they suggest will be the technology that they are most prepared to support when your student needs tech help.
Do not wait until the end of August to make your computer purchase. There are many sales during spring and summer that will save you from paying full price on your new machine. This also gives your college student a chance to get to know the computer before heading to campus. Computers make excellent graduation gifts!
You've seen the way your kids treat their things. Invest in that extended warranty! It just might save them during finals, when their computer breaks. In our experience, the extended warranty is always worth the extra cash.
Many colleges offer free or hugely discounted software. Many also require a specific virus protection in order to be on their network. Before buying any software, check with the school bookstore to see what they require and offer. You can also go to the College of Dupage bookstore with a student ID (yes, for any school!) and receive big education discounts on things like Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop.

Let us help you make the most of your technology.

Pet of the Month

As promised, we are featuring some of our favorite pets of some of our favorite clients each month. Don't be shy! Send us your pet's picture.

Buck and Bella
Here are Buck and Bella and their human, Mike Formento, who you may know as the co-director of the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce.  Mike is also well-known in Glen Ellyn and DuPage county for his many years of public service. His fancy poodles are well-known for putting a smile on our faces!
