The 3 "B"s on Your Tech To Do List
It can be easy for simple technology maintenance to fall off of your To Do List. Here are 3 rules to keep your technology running smoothly without spending too much time at your desk:
- Back up your computer! Mozy.com offers support if you don't use an external hard drive. This will save you headaches down the line.
- Bring in regular updates! It is so easy to click "Remind Me Later," but taking five minutes to bring in updates will keep your computer running smoothly. Take in updates from Microsoft, Apple, Java, Adobe, and your virus protection.
- Bolster your security! Don't forget to keep your virus protection up-to-date, and beware of notices from virus protection that is NOT your own. Don't use the same password for everything, and use 8 digit passwords with lower and upper case, letters, numbers, and symbols. To keep your technology safe, always keep your passwords and install disks!
Don't forget that there are some things to leave OFF of your to do list:
- DON'T ignore issues on your computer. What saves time in the short run could lead to bigger issues in the future. Call us sooner rather than later!
- DON'T open emails unless you're certain who the sender is.
- DON'T download attachments unless you know what they are and who is sending them.
- DON'T use identical passwords for all of your accounts.
