How to make the most of our technology
Without realizing it you have probably accumulated thousands of dollars in technology. You have your computer, printer, phone, maybe a camera, software, modem, router... is it all working in a way that makes your life easier? If it's not, you would be surprised a what a few "tweeks" can do for the quality of your life.
- Do you have a reliable and fast internet connection? No? Look at the age of your router and modem. After 4 or 5 years, they need to be replaced. Go to your browser, click on Tools, click on Manage Addons and turn off all the addons except for ones related to Java, Adobe and your virus protection. It's amazing the difference this can make.
- Is your computer slow? Does it take FOREVER to boot up? How much Ram do you have? XP computers need at least 2 GB of ram now, Vista and Windows 7, 3 GB. Click on your Start button, type "msconfig" in the dialogue box, click on the Start up tab and uncheck any startup programs that you don't need automatically starting and running in the background. Go to the Control Panel, Power Options and change your computer to Never go to sleep while plugged in. Now go to (My)Computer, right click on the C drive, click on Properties, click on Tools and defrag. It may say it was recently defragged but if your power settings are set to go to sleep after an hour, it probably has not been completely defragged in a LONG time.
- Can all the computers in your house print to your printer? You only need 1 printer, all your computers can easily be networked to print to that printer.
- As long as you are sharing the printer, are there files on other computers you would like to access?... yes we can do that too.
Let us help you make the most of your technology.
