Internet slow?
Here are a few troubleshooting tips
- Is it just your computer or is every computer in the office or home having problems? If it's just your computer, it's not your network or your Internet Service Provider, it's your computer. Run a virus scan. Launch your browser, go to Tools, Manage Add-ons. Turn off all the add-ons except for those related to Adobe, Java and your virus protection. This can make a big difference. If not, you need to call us.
- If all the computers in the office and home are having problems, do a speed test. Go to our website www.tmc2.com and click on the Speed Test icon. Select Chicago as your city. Note the upload and download speed and call you internet service provider. Tell them you want your line and modem checked and share the numbers with them. Often there is an issue with the line and the problem can be fixed at no cost to you.
- How old is your router and modem? If either one of them is more than 4 or 5 years old, you probably need to replace it. This too can make a big difference. The routeres and modems sold today are much more powerful than the ones sold 4 or 5 years ago.
