Think you have a virus? Want to try to clean it up yourself? Here's what you need to know.
- Act quickly! Don't ignore the signs of a virus. If your computer has slowed down, is getting unusual pop ups, or you can't browse to your usual websites, you are probably infected. Do not delay, it will only get worse over time.
- Open your virus protection, make sure it is up to date and run a FULL scan. If your virus scan tells you it has found and cleaned an infection, RUN THE SCAN AGAIN. You want to see a clean scan.
- Update and run MalwareBytes... if you don't have MalwareBytes on your computer, go to MalwareBytes.org and download it. It's free. If MalwareBytes finds and removes an infection, RUN THE SCAN AGAIN. You want to see a clean scan.
- If the virus is preventing you from following these steps, restart the computer in Safe Mode and give it a try. You can do this by tapping the F8 key on the keyboard as the computer boots up. You should get a screen that will give you an option to start the computer in Safe Mode with Networking. Arrow to that option and click enter. Retry updating your programs and running your scans.

Pet of the Month As promised, we are featuring some of our favorite pets of some of our favorite clients each month. Don't be shy! Send us your pet's picture.
Kaner belongs to the Paradise family. We suspect that Kaner is helping to fill the void that was left when son Erikh went away to college. Grandpa Larry Gage (and one of Sue's very favorite clients) was instrumental in securing Kaner's slot in this month's newsletter. |
