TMC Squared Newsletter       June 2010

When is it time to let go?

old computer

When you still have a functioning computer.
It's always better to have the time to shop for the best values.  This often means ordering on line.  Don't be an emergency shopper.

Before we work on a computer, we check the processor speed, the size and available space on the hard drive and the age of the computer.  If it makes more sense to spend your repair dollars on a new computer, we will advise you to do just that.

Age
How old is your computer?  After 4 or 5 years, you are on borrowed time.

Size

Most computers come with 160 GB hard drives or bigger. How big is your hard drive?  How much free space do you have? You should have at least 15% of your hard drive free.

Speed
What kind of processor do you have and how fast is it? The processors on computers sold today are 2 to 4 times faster than the computers sold 4 or 5 years ago.

What can Remote Access do for you?

 computer on a beach

Remote access is software that enables you to access your computer from anywhere via the internet.  The software is free and easy to use.

  • Would you like to work from home but need to access your computer at the office?
  • Are you headed to the beach but need to check into your home or office computer?
  • Do you have a summer home that you would love to spend more time at?
  • Do you have an employee that would like to work for you from home?
  • Do you have surveillance cameras you would like to monitor?

We recommend remote access capability for all of our business clients.  The flexibility and time savings it brings is priceless.  We also have many residential clients who use it for work, travel or who simply need to be in two places at the same time.
