Boy how the summer seemed to fly by this year! Here in Southern California we had May Gray, June Gloom, and July Bad Sky and it continued right on through August. Can you say Indian summer! Let's hope for that late summer so the bite stays with us through Turkey Day!
We went to the Outdoor Retailer in Salt Lake City to check out the new stuff for 2011, Congrats to Wilderness Systems for winning manufacturer of the year for the second straight year! Jared dinner is on you next time! Looks like most manufacturers' feel that the economy is getting better and are expanding their accessory lines. Look for new kayak models to be the next step!
Fishing slowed a bit for us in San Diego the last couple weeks, but still are seeing big white seabass in the counts with smaller yellowtail as well. Big green backs are the ticket for the big WS. Do not let yourself think this mackerel is too big to fly line, you will be sorry!
We are gearing up for the Steve Moyer Memorial Tournament set for Sept 11th. It is the biggest and most prestigious kayak fishing event of the year on the west coast. Named after kayak fisherman, and all around waterman Steve Moyer, this event has earned over $55,000 for the American Cancer Society and the event hopes to make a bigger contribution each year. Steve lost his battle with cancer over eight years ago; we want to do our part to help stop this disease. Two good friends of ours Jim Sammons and Matt Moyer (Steve's son) along with their family members put on a fantastic event and I encourage all of you to come out and sign up for this great cause.
