Greetings!
Are you kidding? Is it the holidays ALREADY?? It really does have a habit of sneaking up on one, doesn't it? We at Wag Zone are busy preparing for the onslaught of our boarding visitors - some of whom who have already begun to arrive. Our daycare dogs are LOVING the crisp weather and the hint of snow and the muddy days have thankfully moved more into frosty ones.
This month's edition reminds us of the precautions we need to take to ensure our dogs are safe over these happy holidays. We're also giving you the heads up that with our boarding dogs over the next few weeks, daycare reservations are less a luxury and more a necessity to ensure your dog can come and play. If you don't have a reservation, make sure to at least call to see if there's room for your pet before making the trek down to Wag Zone.
Finally, from all of us here at Wag Zone, Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Happy Kwanza and Happy Holidays to all of you - and the best of the New Year as well. May all your happiest wishes come true this season.

Pup Smarts: Christmas Hazards
As the happy season is fully upon us we thought it a good idea to revisit the Top 10 Holiday Safety Tips for your pups courtesy of the Urban Dog Guide:
Christmas plants such as Holly
and Poinsettia are poisonous to dogs. Keep these plants well out of your dog's
reach.
Do not introduce a new
dog or puppy into your home during the holiday season. When a dog is adopted
into a new environment it needs lots of attention. Holidays do not permit the
time to allow a new dog or puppy feel secure. A dog is a lifetime commitment.
If you wish, give an IOU or gift that represents the dog or puppy. This can be
a collar, leash or food bowl.
 Don't place lights on the
lower branches of your Christmas tree. They can become hot and burn your dog.
Puppies may chew on
electrical cords. Be sure to place cords where your dog can't get near them.
Avoid using glass
ornaments. If they break they can cut your dog's mouth and paws.
Never leave your dog
unattended if he/she can get to your Christmas tree. Sharp needles on both
artificial and live trees cannot be digested and can cause a wide range of
problems if swallowed.
Never use edible
ornaments to decorate your tree. Dogs may knock the tree over in order to get
to the treats.
Keep all candy and treats
out of your dog's reach. Chocolate, alcohol and marshmallows are toxic to dogs.
Keep to a normal schedule
as much as possible during the holiday season. This will prevent your dog from
becoming overly stressed. Dogs that are stressed often suffer from behavioral
issues.
Have a "safe" place for
your pet when company is over for the holidays. Some animals get very nervous
or distressed with a house full of guests.
