Happy May Day! |
After April's showers and spring cleaning, it's time for May flowers and yard sales...
Okay, since transparency and full disclosure are cornerstone values of Time Well Spent, I need to confess that I didn't really accomplish much spring cleaning in April...
So, I thought I'd share a glimpse of what exactly I have been doing with my time this past month, validating why Time Well Spent is still in it's pre-launch phase! Perhaps I'm justifying to myself why I'm still in the "temporary" office. I really have been accomplishing a great deal ~ short of actually launching, that is.
Of course, no monthly Time Well Spent update would be complete without sharing the details for the next DeClutter For Good Drive. The May drive is focused on baby stuff - because spring time is baby time!
If you know of any high school students who would benefit from a few hours spent this month helping me spread the word of this month's DeClutter For Good event, send them my way! It's good for their resume, their self-esteem and their spirit!
As always, don't hesitate to be in touch ~ email a reply, comment on the blog, text or call with questions, ideas, and feedback ~ or just to say hello.
Carpe Diem!

May DeClutter For Good Baby Stuff Drive |
With my youngest's thirteenth birthday imminent, as well as my eldest's high school graduation, I no longer know many people with little babies any more! I'm not quite sure when that happened...
So, I'm making a special request for a little help spreading the word of the need that exists for baby clothes and equipment. Forwarding this information to local pre-schools, day-care centers, churches, scouting groups and the like, and encouraging their participation (whether via the DeClutter For Good event or by hosting an event of their own) would be a wonderful way to help those who are the most helpless among us ~ babies in need.
For Whom? Babies of Massachusetts Families in Need
When? Sunday, May 17th, 11 am-3pm*
Where? Time Well Spent Pre-Launch Office
89 Turnpike Road/Route 1, Ipswich, MA
Cradles to Crayons works with over 400 organizations right in Massachusetts, reaching tens of thousands of children in need, from birth through pre-teen. Know that your donations will go through their efficient distribution system into the hands of children in need locally. What's more, with Cradles to Crayons handling the material needs of these kids, local service organizations can spend that much more of their time on the physical and emotional needs of the kids they serve.
For safety reasons, the rules for baby equipment are rather specific. Click here to learn more about the particulars. Also, I've blogged about Cradles to Crayons frequently, so feel free to search for them using the search tool on my front page.
Would you rather share a paper copy of a flyer instead of forwarding the e-newsletter? Just email me!
*If you can't make it on the 17th, please contact me for alternative drop-off arrangements.
Help Time Well Spent reach our goal
of a total of 50 baby items donated this month
and watch for the results next month!

How My Time Was Spent in April |
So, what have I been doing all this time???
Well, my approach to the pre-launch process has been one of "action while planning," an idea I picked up very early along the way from a business planning guide written by Andrew Wolk, founder of Root Cause in Cambridge. Andrew Wolk is incredibly active in the movement to bring social innovation to bear on society's greatest challenges and inequities through a multi-sector approach, including the effective use of an enlightened market-driven economy when possible.
Very simply put, my interpretation of action-while-planning means that, along with doing scads of research online, I've also been doing tons (that 's even more than scads!) of learning through doing, testing of ideas and networking in person. Go to page 22 of the PDF of the business planning guide to read Wolk's description of action while planning.
All that said, following my action-while-planning approach to Time Well Spent's pre-launch phase, below is a list of just a few events I've attended this past month, one way or the other. Click here to go to the post describing the events in more detail including relevant posts and websites.
