Bustling Holiday Greetings!

'Tis the season to keep it local... The "Keep It Local" concept is one I've come to appreciate and embrace through my nearly-a-year of brainstorming and researching my mission-driven business concept.

Keeping it Local is WIN ~ WIN ~ WIN and then some... Good for the environment, Good for local businesses (meaning business owners and their employees), Good for local community bonding and human connections, Good for local artists/artisans selling their treasures at local fairs, Good for helping those in need locally by helping those who are struggling and lifting spirits while you are at it (of both those who give and those who receive), Good for setting some concrete examples for the kids through our actions as well as our words...

This month's e-newsletter includes a few suggestions for keeping it local and celebrating the holidays with an extra appreciation for all that we do have, in spite of the struggling economy. It's time to "turn that frown upside down" and consider the challenges before you as an opportunity to make some mindful decisions about how to spend the rest of 2008 with love and laughter... So, I've included a tip for a greener, leaner Christmas with less waste and less expense but extra fun - check out my Yankee ReGifting Swap below...

It's sure to be Time Well Spent!

p.s. Considering the hectic holidays and my need to focus on the business plan, there will not be a DeClutter For Good event in December. Instead, please read the DeClutter the Holidays For Good Plan B details below.

November DeClutter For Good ~ Holiday Clutter ~ Plan B

The results of the DeClutter Your Holidays For Good donation drive are a bit mixed. And, that's okay! Part of my action-while-planning approach is to give ideas a try and see what works, what doesn't and what to do about it...

To read all about it, click your mouse here

No time for all the details? Cut to the chase ~ Plan B: Throughout this month, set aside all of your holiday clutter (that's holiday stuff you haven't used during the last 2+ holiday seasons)  and continually put it into one (or more!) clearly marked box(es) ~ DeClutter the Holidays For Good ~ putting it all away until next November in a place where it is not mixed in with all of your holiday clutter you are keeping, a/k/a your cherished holiday decorations!

In a year... Don't laugh, time flies. Think about it...It seems it was just last Christmas after all... We'll put our collective holiday clutter to good use sharing it with those in need, in time for their holidays...

'Tis the Season ~ For Local Giving

Through my pre-launch efforts, travels and contacts, I've heard about some different local giving opportunities. There is only so much I can do at this time when I need to be focused on my business plan and financial projections (a necessary evil I am just beginning to embrace which I blogged a bit about in a post you can read by clicking here). One thing I can certainly do is share the info about these various local holiday-related programs as an FYI to any and all of my readers, particularly those who are located on the North Shore, in an effort to spread the good word.

And so I have... Following are the links (to my novice computer friends, "click" your mouse over the topics you want to read about and you'll be taken right to that post!):

NOTE: I've only mentioned organizations and events that I've learned about in my pre-launch travels...To be sure, there are many more great programs out there. Feel free to add those you know about to my blog. Feeling shy? Just send me an email and I'd be more than happy to post the info!

Yankee Swap with a GREEN Twist

Here' a fun, good for the environment, easy on the pocketbook holiday tip (win, win, win ~ HoHoHo!)...

Instead of a gag grab or some other theme-based grab that leads to more expense and more buying of new products that we don't need, just have a Yankee ReGifting Swap. The only rule ~ no newly-purchased items allowed!

Click here to read more about it and see some pics from last year's "First Annual Darcy Family Yankee ReGifting Swap!"
