Happy Autumn (Contact First Name),
In this time of financial uncertainty, we all have to look for the "silver lining," absurd as that may initially sound. Truly, we are not our material possessions or our bank account balance. In advance of this market crash, the realities of the credit crunch and the shallow satisfaction in over-excess had started to bring about a change in attitude for many. Now more than ever, this time presents an opportunity to live a more authentic and aware life, with consideration for those less fortunate and the environment, while still providing for our own needs and those of our families, perhaps finding ourselves a bit closer to true happiness in the process.
How to begin? Stop and think of one thing that you are grateful for and then focus on choosing to make this day a great day ~ and you will ~ it's all a matter of perspective and controlling your thoughts, lest they control you... Heavy stuff (but "tough" times call for it)...
Step 2? For me, it's back to work...While I continue to work hard on my business plan, I'm also focused on scheduling the cornerstone of my calendar-based activities, our monthly DeClutter for Good Donation Weekends. A reminder to some readers and news to others, the third calendar weekend of the month will always be designated for the purpose of DeCluttering for Good.
Each month, the focus of our decluttering will change to a new item or group of items that are cluttering many of our homes. We'll combine our efforts to declutter our homes with our service mission by using our decluttered donations to benefit those in need. Click here to read my post for more details on the DeClutter For Good concept.
This month, I hope you are able to declutter and donate your extra books and sincerely appreciate your taking the time to support this effort. Read on for the details and related links...
It's sure to be Time Well Spent!
Nancy
p.s. To lighten things up and ground us a bit, reply to this email sharing one thing for which you are grateful and I will give you 20 clutter credits (a bit like carbon credits, clutter credits will be awarded for contributed materials and may be used toward any of the donated/contributed materials).

DeClutter For Good Weekend ~ October Details ~ BOOKS |
Books, Books, Books...
This month, we have a dual
purpose as we declutter books. Together, our efforts will help to grow the Time Well Spent collection of self-help and how-to books, while the bulk of the contributed books will be donated to support the efforts of More Than Words, an exceptional organization that I am happy to share with all of you.
For Whom? To Benefit Teens & To Grow Our Book Collection
What? Books for All Ages
When? Sunday, October 18th, 9am-4pm
Where? Time Well Spent Pre-Launch Office
89 Turnpike Drive, Ipswich, MA
Why? In support of teens at More Than Words or our
mission at Time Well Spent, two great reasons to
declutter at home...

September Cradles to Crayons "Mini" Drive a Major Success |
Last week, I filled the car (and I mean filled it!) with the wonderful "clutter" that had been donated to our first DeClutter For Good drive and I delivered it all to the Cradles to Crayons warehouse in Quincy. I can not say enough about the work of this impressive organization on so many levels. Not only are they meeting the material needs in the short-term of thousands of at-risk and underprivileged children throughout Massachusetts, they are changing attitudes about how and why to help those in need...
This is a common thread I find running through like-minded, purpose-driven organizations like Cradles to Crayons and More Than Words. It is my sincere goal that, with your help, Time Well Spent will also change attitudes about the true benefits to all of service ~ including donors, recipients, volunteers and those in need ~ and about helping others to gain the tools, self-respect and self-confidence to strive to meet their own potential.

Scrapbooking Info Night @ Time Well Spent |
Time Well Spent will be a multi-use space, great for the environment for one thing, and an absolutely fantastic venue for increasing the opportunities and potential for positive, life-enhancing, time-saving activities for the consumer. Among the many worthwhile options will be workshops of interest to those in the community. Though still in my pre-launch phase, I'd like to share one-such opportunity with you that is particularly timely to me ~ a High School Graduation scrapbooking group.
For those of us with a teen who is approaching graduation, the question of a special gift to give from the heart begins to creep in. Here's the perfect solution ~ A scrapbook filled with memories of your child's life! Unlike the baby books that many of us started and never quite finished, working in a group will insure that we successfully complete a scrapbook that will document milestones, special events and everyday moments. Think of it as a focused time-management project that will take the overwhelming and make it manageable and even fun! Though rarely taken, we all deserve a little time to reflect on our years spent parenting. Working on a scrapbook that honors a major life milestone (for our child and ourselves) will be time well spent.
I'll be hosting an information night on Thursday night, October 16th at 7:00 pm explaining all the details before folks decide whether to join the group that will be led by scrapbooking expert Carol LeBlanc.
