Some Crafty Repurpose Sites |
This update doesn't provide many details or examples of repurposing ideas ~ something that we'll be doing plenty of as we DeClutter and RePurpose for Good.
So, here are a few great links for my craft-loving contacts - Can you spot some ideas we can recreate?

Greetings! |
Feel like you're living the proverbial rat race? Hurrying through life on auto-pilot? Does "doing your best" amount to barely keeping your head above water? Hold On! Enough with the metaphors ~ And, enough negativity!
Time to turn that frown upside-down! Today is the first day of the rest of your life! Regret is a wasted emotion! ... Now, doesn't that sound better??! About that little voice inside your head...Please tell me you have one, too!...That self-talk needs to be cheering us on instead of bringing us down.
Great, but...(because there always is a but!): Talk alone isn't going to do it, whether we are talking to ourselves or to one another about how life could or should be. It's time to take action and create the life you want to live... Starting now... Life is not a dress rehearsal (sorry, I couldn't resist one last metaphor!).
Okay, so time to take some action...
Check out all the opportunities this e-newsletter highlights, big and small, to help make my mission-driven business, serving both social and environmental goals, a reality. Considering my 40+ hours I've been putting in each week, it sure seems real to me! In addition to sharing ways you can help, this month's e-newsletter includes some highlights from my weblog, for those getting my e-newsletter for the first time and those who haven't had a chance to visit the weblog lately (yes, I'm talking to you!). This e-newsletter also includes the long-awaited announcement of my new business name... If you are thinking "it's about time," you are so right!
I look forward to hearing from you over the coming weeks. Until then, I hope this finds you and yours happy and well and enjoying the best the summer has to offer...

Drumroll Please...Announcing the Business Name |
As I start on this new venture (or, perhaps I should say "adventure!"), my goals ultimately all share the common thread of TIME, our most undervalued, wasted and threatened resource...If you think about it, I bet your goals do, too...
I expect that you would agree with the following goal: To live a life that you enjoy and can feel good about, as you are living it, as you reflect on your past, and as you plan for your future and the future of your children.
But what does that have to do with time? Just this...Striving to make the goal a reality is easier said than done. The truth is that, as stewards to our own children, so are we stewards~both socially and environmentally~to this world, caring for it and sustaining it on behalf of the future generations, our children and our grandchildren. Just making sure things are going well within the four walls of our own home isn't enough. Attaining this goal requires a more purposeful approach to how we manage our time...The minutes and hours, mornings and afternoons, the days and weeks, even the evenings and weekends... To quote Pulitzer-prize-winning author Annie Dillard,"How we spend our days is of course how we spend our lives."
Indeed, our time, and how we choose to spend it, is really what life is all about and (cue the drum roll)...That's what has inspired the name of my mission-driven business: Time Well Spent. I think it has a nice ring to it! What's more, it pretty much says it all ~ vision, mission, objectives ~ all rolled up into three little words...It really is going to be, literally and figuratively, time well spent!

Take The Quick Tour of Time Well Spent
|

This is my back of the napkin rendering of the brick-and-mortar space I envision for Time Well Spent...I bet you didn't know that there are actually business competitions based on back-of-the-napkin sketches! IF you are interested in learning more about this back-of-the-napkin method of sharing information, click here to read my post on the topic.

Four+ Ways You Can Help Spread the Word!
|
Spreading the word about a new business is so critical to its success and something that can't be done by one person alone. By helping to "spread the word," you will be letting your friends and family, and in some cases, your customers, know that you believe in my mission. In-so-doing, you will be helping me to achieve that mission, for which I would be sincerely grateful! See how easy it is to make a difference!
There are a variety of ways, requiring various levels of commitment, to get involved NOW, at this critical time, during the Summer Pre-Launch Phase of Time Well Spent. Please click here for the full descriptions of how you can help...
1. Host a Coffee/Tea, Poolside Drinks, or a Wine & Cheese Intro Event and Earn 25 Clutter Credits per each Guest
2. Forward this E-newsletter or Send an Email of Your Own
3. Post or Distribute a Flyer or Email Sign-Up Sheet
4. Post my link on your website or in your emails

The PLUS+ Other Opportunities Abound ~
For those of you interested in doing some community service by helping me to get my mission-driven business off the ground, there's always plenty to do. For example, I sure could use help tracking down and gathering the clutter that will make up the crafting material at Time Well Spent as well as the furnishings that will add character and whimsy to the space - and a place to sit - this after being lovingly recovered or restored. These clutter-collecting ways to get involved were highlighted in the special June email announcing my temporary space and clutter drop-off process.
There are other professional services that would be helpful which are posted on the Wish List page. Curious? Thinking about helping out? Give it a try to see what you think. Thanks in advance for checking out my Business Wish List Page and/or the Archived June Special Announcement for more info...
Thought of another way you can help? I'm all ears... Just let me know!

Helping Others ~ Part of the Plan
|
After a decade of volunteer service, I find it hard to not jump ahead of myself in terms of my desire to fulfill a very important part of my mission. I wouldn't be opening Time Well Spent but for the positive impact I know it will have on the local community here on the North Shore, as well as the example it will set for other similar communities. Along with the products for sale and the activities and workshops planned, I will be making it easy to fit helping others and the environment into all of our lives. With no pressure and an "every little bit counts" attitude, there will continually be ways, big and small, to help others when visiting Time Well Spent. One cornerstone activity will be once-monthly donation drives, each with a specific call to action letting everyone know the particulars of that month's effort.
Click here to read about some of the local organizations I've highlighted to date on my weblog.
Internet Site to Bring Volunteers and Organizations Together
In addition to the featured organizations, I wrote a blog post describing and providing links to an amazing web-site called VolunteerMatch.org.
The site brings together organizations in need with volunteers interested in giving of themselves in some way. Please check it out if you know of organizations that would benefit from such a tool for meeting volunteer needs. That site is certain to go from great to fantastic the more it is used! |
