A Magical Moment with Special K Harlem Globetrotters

|
Special K recently shared his magical moment...lifetime memory wth us.
"I was 13 when I moved to the United States from Panama. I'll never forget the day we visited The Forum with a family friend. The Forum was the home of the Los Angeles Lakers then. She made me touch the walls and said, "one day you will play here."
Now I don't play for the Lakers, but I've toured 50 countries with the Harlem Globetrotters and every time we stop in Los Angeles I play at the STAPLES Center just like the Lakers."
Because moments matter, childhood dreams can come true!

"You know, I think everybody longs to be loved and longs to know that he or she is lovable. Consequently, the greatest thing that we can do is to help somebody know that he or she is loved and capable of loving."

It's a Guy Thing! Tickets for Kids Charities Agency Spotlight: Guys and Adult Mentoring Experience Program (G.A.M.E.)
"Tickets have been provided by Tickets for Kids Charities for sporting events, such as Penguins hockey games, Pitt Panthers basketball games, and Duquesne University basketball games. Each male receives individual attention and experiences an activity he would not normally have access to. He feels special and will remember these field trips... The kids this past Sunday at the Pens game had a wonderful time. They had their caricatures done, had their pictures taken in the penalty box, and waved their Terrible Towels."
C.A.D.A. (Citizens to Abolish Domestic Apartheid) Programs started Guys and Adult Mentoring Experience (G.A.M.E.) to give young men mentorship opportunities with positive adult male influence. A large number of male students from C.A.D.A. Programs come from primarily female, single parent households, so there is a real need for adult male interaction. The G.A.M.E. Program provides this interaction by creating opportunities for students to attend sporting events together with C.A.D.A. Program staff members.

Feld Entertainment Includes 15,000 TFKC Kids
" Feld Entertainment believes that being an active member of the community is vital to being an exemplary corporate citizen. In each community that Feld Entertainment visits, we give contributions to organizations that assist individuals and families. The challenge we have, as a live touring entertainment company, is that the actual physical presence in a community often varies based on the length of a show's engagement. That is why partnering with a key service organization like Tickets for Kids Charities helps Feld Entertainment identify those local nonprofits that serve underprivileged children and their families across the country. With Tickets for Kids Charities, Feld Entertainment is in a better position to provide a magical and uplifting experience for those in need. Since 2007, over 15,000 tickets have been donated to Tickets for Kids Charities. This has enabled children and families who otherwise might not have had the opportunity to attend one of the company's productions of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Circus or Disney On Ice, to be included. Trapeze artists, clowns, exotic animals along with enchanting championship skaters and others take these amazing yet underserved children on unforgettable journeys. The impact is phenomenal and Tickets for Kids Charities is vital to making it happen. The result is that we share in the privilege of helping families forget their problems and create opportunities for children of all ages to smile, laugh, dance, and sing, and in the end create memories that will last a lifetime."

A Celebration of Reading 2009 Presented by

Tickets for Kids Charities wants to say a big "thank you" to the Comcast Foundation for making possible a fourth year of A Celebration of Reading in partnership with Prime Stage Theatre. With Comcast's generous support, this teen literacy program will include over 300 students who will have the opportunity to see Ellen Raskin's Newbery Medal-winning book, The Westing Game, come to life.
Participants are given a copy of the book and read it under guidance of their agency. They are then encouraged to express their personal interpretations of the book through creative group projects.
This May the program will culminate as youth, families, and chaperones attend a private performance of The Westing Game at the New Hazlett Theater. That night participants display their projects, receive recognition and certificates of completion, and enjoy a reception together. Thanks Comcast for making reading come to life for these teens! |

Tickets for Kids Charities includes
Operation Save Our Youth at a Pens Game
"Amazing! I watched these youth experience something that they have never had the chance to experience before. I don't know what was better: the way they looked enjoying the game from those high back leather office chairs, their amazement at just being in Sidney Crosby's guest box while the Penguins made a fuss over them with gift bags, complimentary snacks and a group picture, or their wonderful behavior and obvious appreciation for what they had just experienced.
This was an awesome experience for them, as well as myself and the other chaperone. Thank you Tickets for Kids Charities!" |
Your Impact
