A Magical Moment
with
Matt Capps,
Pittsburgh Pirates Closer

Matt Capps

Recently, Matt Capps shared his magical moment...lifetime memory with us.

"One of my fondest childhood memories was a professional baseball game I attended with my parents.  I got to see Nolan Ryan pitch in his final year of play at the old Texas Rangers ballpark in 1993.  That one experience got me hooked on baseball.  I was in awe of his pitching.  What a thrill!"

A magical moment...lifetime memory indeed!

Donor Thanks

Your donation to Tickets for Kids Charities has an incredible impact on disadvantaged children.  Through your gift, you are introducing at-risk kids to the amazing worlds of arts & cultural, educational, sporting, and family entertainment events and activities.

Without your generosity, these enriching experiences would not be possible, and thousands of young lives would be void of the thrill and joy that accompany new discoveries and experiences.

The link below will take you to a list of our 3rd quarter 2008 donors who have created so many magical moments...lifetime memories for deserving kids.

Our Kids Experience the Washington Redskins

Washington Redskins

This fall, Tickets for Kids Charities youth and their chaperones were treated to a Washington Redskins football game at FedEx Field.  Not only did they get to attend the game, but also they received club level seats, some of the best in the house! Joseph Fortuna, a first-time Tickets for Kids Charities donor, made this generous contribution which, as you can read below, had a positive impact.

One agency reported "You have MADE a young man's year with these tickets!  Thank you for thinking of us. This will be just the motivation he needs to see that good things happen when he continues to better himself."

Your simple donation can change a life!
A special thanks to Mr. Fortuna for creating magical moments...lifetime memories in Washington, D.C.!

We wish you and your loved ones a warm holiday season filled with magical moments...lifetime memories.  The tremendous number of children we serve value these gifts because, as we say so often, moments matter

Tom Brasuell, Vice President of Community Affairs for Major League Baseball, shares the significance of supporting Tickets for Kids Charities

"2008 marked MLB's third year working with Tickets for Kids Charities.  This year was particularly special as we partnered to provide more than 2,400 children with the opportunity to attend the DHL All-Star FanFest in New York City.  The children who attended would otherwise not have been able to participate in the magic that the All-Star Game brings to a city."

We hope to continue to work with Major League Baseball so that together we can include more kids and help them understand how special baseball can be.

Please help Tickets for Kids Charities continue to make magical moments happen for underprivileged children...your contributions make a difference and have an impact on our wonderful kids.

During these difficult economic times, the disadvantaged children we serve need your support more than ever.  Please join us in rallying around those most in need to support our incredibly important mission.

Highmark, Penguins Once Again Support Power Play Program
Highmark
Tickets for Kids Charities is thrilled to announce that again this year, Highmark and the Pittsburgh Penguins have come together to support the Power Play Program.  This program will include 10,000 of our deserving children and families at exciting Pittsburgh Penguins hockey games throughout the 2008-09 season.

"Tickets for Kids Charities demonstrates the enormous value of partnerships designed to benefit our most valuable asset, children," said Aaron Walton, Senior Vice President at Highmark. "The spirit of the Tickets for Kids Charities mission compliments the Highmark mission of 'Helping People Live Longer Healthier Lives,'" Mr. Walton said.

We sincerely appreciate Highmark and the Penguins' continued support of Tickets for Kids Charities and the Power Play Program.  Let's go Pens!

Heinz History Center

The Heinz History Center, PA Motor Trucking Association, and Tickets for Kids Charities teamed up to provide our kids with a delightful day of holiday cheer complete with a warm winter coat on November 15th!

This special day began with the arrival of Santa carrying winter coats for our kids!  This is the fourth year in a row that the PA Motor Trucking Association has teamed up with Tickets for Kids Charities to donate warm, high-quality, new coats for the lower-income children we serve.  The new coats, which are purchased from the nonprofit Operation Warm, come in several styles and multiple colors with details like embroidery and piping.

Asia from Lincoln Park Family Center shared with us that her "four-year-old would not take her coat off.  She absolutely loves it.  Her favorite color is pink and that's the color of the coat she received.  This gift is such a blessing...it would have been a real struggle to scrounge up the money to buy a coat this year.  Thank you for your generosity and kindness."

After the coat distribution, Santa joined our kids for cookies and juice before our youth set out to enjoy the Heinz History Center.  The History Center was especially merry that day with their Heritage Holiday Festival celebrating all of the different holiday traditions.

A very special thanks to the PA Motor Trucking Association, Operation Warm, and the Heinz History Center for their generous donations which meant a great deal to our youth.
A Closer Look at Our Kids

We received this inspiring story from one of our agency chaperones.  As you consider your end of year contributions, please keep the following deserving kids in mind.  Your gifts to Tickets for Kids Charities enable our kids to expand their horizons and create magical moments...lifetime memories.

 Deja

Déjà`
Age 10
Uniontown, PA
Déjà`is being raised by her single mother, Adrienne, age 32, who has another child with autism.  Déjà`is the older, and therefore some responsibility is bestowed on her.  Tickets for Kids Charities gives her time to be with kids her own age, and time to just be a kid without adult responsibilities.

Cadee

Cadee
Age 13
Beaver Falls, PA

Cadee is athletic, handsome, and in the gifted program at school.  He tries very hard.  He is currently being raised by his grandma who is doing a great job.  Cadee is at a crossroad, trying to decide what kind of young man he will become.  I have seen him act with integrity a number of times, but it is one time in particular that I am especially proud of.

The kids in our neighborhood often borrow our family's bikes.  They are allowed to use them as long as they return them.  One day, one of the boys walked back to our house after taking one of our bikes to football practice that morning.  He said the bike was stolen while he was at practice.  This is a common occurrence in our neighborhood.  We have had many bikes stolen.

Later that same night three middle school football players showed up at our house with three bikes.  These boys were led by Cadee.  One of the boys said, "Miss, Cadee said you are a nice lady and that we shouldn't steal your bikes."

Cadee made a great choice in this situation.  He led his peers to do the right thing.  Having positive experiences through Tickets for Kids Charities allows him to spend time with quality people in healthy environments.  Those moments rub off on him and improve his life.  If Cadee continues to make good choices, he will become a strong, positive leader in our community.
