"SO THAT NO ONE WILL MALIGN THE WORD OF GOD!" (Titus 2:5b)

Mentoring is my passion: spiritually older women teaching and training spiritually younger woman from their own experiences with God and the Word of God. Titus 2:3-5 is the scriptural foundation: 3) "Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4) Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5) to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God." The focus often goes to verses 3 through 5a, but the conclusion of verse 5 is why God tells us to mentor each other: "so that no one will malign the word of God." Here's how several other translations interpret Titus 2:5b: "Then they will not bring shame on the word of God." (NLT) "so that God's message will not be slandered." (HCSB) "that the word of God may not be reviled." (ESV) "that the word of God may not be blasphemed." (NKJ) Today, I think you would agree that the Word of God is shamed, maligned, slandered, reviled, and blasphemed. And my challenge to Christian readers and audiences is this: What are you doing to keep the Word of God glorified, sanctified, revered, and honored? It requires taking a step beyond being sad, disgusted, or angry with the current culture and standing up vocally, personally, and sacrificially for what the Word of God tells us-even when it hits close to home or is severely politically incorrect. I'm not even sure how politics came to play in any of this since the issues are all moral not political. What bothers me is that some churches are succumbing to culture and politics by steering away from dealing with difficult issues that may offend church members who have "sensitive issues" in their own families. These are the people we need to reach out to and pray with and encourage not sweep their pain under the church pews. I recently heard my former pastor Rick Warren interviewed on 60 Minutes and the interviewer continually tried to get Pastor Rick to agree that Saddleback Church would have to succumb to accepting gay marriage or sex outside of marriage because many of his congregants are probably living that lifestyle. Of course, Pastor Rick kindly told the interviewer that his moral compass was, and would always be, the Bible...period.
Like the children's song: The B I B L E! Yes that's the Book for me. I stand alone on the Word of God the B I B L E! Some of you have read in my book Praying for Your Prodigal Daughter, that just because my daughter was living a sinful life... didn't make it right. It broke my heart and I loved her unconditionally, but I never condoned or accepted her lifestyle. Knowing that maligning the Word of God would be her ruin, kept me on my knees praying for her every day. There's no right way to do the wrong thing-even when it's your child or loved one doing it. If you have a loved one shaming the Word of God, or you are, don't marginalize or normalize or close your eyes to the sin. Stand up for what you know is right, honor the Word of God, and pray that the Word of God is not maligned in your home or in your life.

"Dear God," Series

CHURCH STARTS SUPPORT GROUP!
Dear Janet,
Just an update about my starting a Breast Cancer Support Group in my church. I had a meeting with our Ministry Pastor and we had a great visit. He said he would love to have a ministry like this in our church. I am in prayer right now for a Co-Leader. I showed him your book and told him it would be a guide for the support group meetings. He loved the idea and now God has me in a holding pattern as to who and how and when this group can get started.
I also told him of your Grace Abounds, as a Mentor and that I would love to see something take off from this group meetings. He even took it further and saw a need to connect other ministry groups in our church for these women to be referred to.
He saw a BIG PICTURE, so to speak, for our church and God to help out in any way, for any woman in need. He said he would also like to see the men in the woman's lives helped and anyone else's life that is impacted by all of this. WOW..... God is SO GOOD!
So my prayers go out to you and all that is going on in your life. Prayers for all the women impacted daily through Breast Cancer and all the support system people impacted by this also.
Gods Love and Peace to you.

FEATURED WOMAN TO WOMAN MENTORING MINISTRY TESTIMONY
Hi Janet! I saw you at a Lifeway Women's Ministry Conference about 3-4 years ago and was so impressed with the Woman to Woman Mentoring ministry. We started it up at our church about 2 years ago and it has been going great! We also have a webpage set up for the mentoring ministry and you can see it here . We recently did a new video with some testimonies of women who have gone through the mentoring. It is at the bottom of that webpage along with our video Mentoring Game Skit. Thank you for your heart and ministry to women, and for inspiring us to start a mentoring program at our church. It has already been life-changing, and I look forward to what God has in store over the next few years! Blessings! "GRAMMIE'S CORNER"

Grammie Goes To Vacation Bible School This year our 3 Meridian, ID grandkids were out of school in time to attend our church VBS! I decided I didn't want to just drop them off each day. I wanted to see what they were learning and experiencing. So I offered to be a "Lifeguard" leader. The theme was Son Surf, even though we are several states away from the real surf, but you wouldn't have known that with all the decorations and surfing and swimming songs we sang.
The kids loved walking down the hill from our house to church every morning rain or sun! It was an awesome week with the kids and a joy to watch them learning more about Jesus. To give you an idea of how much they enjoyed it, they wanted to know why it couldn't be VBS every week...or at least every time they visited! I encourage you to let your children and grandchildren experience a VBS this summer! It could change their life...and yours.

Meet An Author

Annetta and Karen co-wrote this book and I was blessed to endorse it. Below is an interview with Annetta:
1. When and how did you know you wanted to be an author and what inspired you to write?
As a preschool teacher and a parent of young children, I started writing devotions for parents of preschoolers, and Happy Talk and More Happy Talk was published in 1982. Since then I've had lots of rejections but been blessed with over 30 books published. (To see more of Annetta's books go to her website).
2. What has been your experience with self-publishing?
I've had at least 10 different publishers. I could write a book about things that have happened thru the years. There are good and bad points about self-publishing. Two of my most recent books I self published because I wanted them a particular way and am very happy with the end product. The negative is that you need lots of money up front.
Deciding what you want to accomplish and having a market to sell to should determine whether you custom publish.
3. Can you offer advice and encouragement to those with a story to tell?
Go to a writer's conference and learn the ropes. Serious writing often requires giving up TV, eliminating all outside distractions, and having a thick skin with the inevitable rejections. Above all, pray and follow the Lord's guidance!
