Hello St. Paul's, I greet you in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
By now you may have heard that I have been elected to be the tenth Bishop of the Diocese of Atlanta.
All at the same time this calling is humbling, exciting and some what tinged with sorrow. All callings from God are like this.
Humbling, when I think about my journey with Jesus over the years, and how now so many have conferred such an awesome trust on me. Humbling, when I think about how so many have helped me, taught me, and loved me.
Exciting, because I am most alive when I serve and partner with the Spirit and with others to proclaim the gospel and make disciples.
But I confess to you, leaving St. Paul's will not be easy for me. Your faith, generosity and wisdom have made me a better Christian, husband, father and Priest.
Bishop Don Wimberly said some months ago in worship with us, "...that my candidacy for bishop is a reflection on the kind of church St. Paul's is..."
If I am prepared to lead the Diocese of Atlanta, it is because of the ten years I have served as your Rector.
I am delighted to remind you that Beth and the children will remain as members of St. Paul's; that is the highest compliment I can pay you. I know you will continue to do for them, what so many of you have done for me, show them Jesus!
God bless you,

Rob+
