God doesn't need to be invited anywhere... God is everywhere.
What God needs, what we need, is to welcome God.
When we come together to worship, mostly we come to get something: strength, guidance, encouragement. Or, worse, we have no idea why we go to church.
What if worship was gathering to say in word and song, "We are here for you, God"?
We are here for you, God!
Think of your praises and prayers as a sign of your welcome to God. Go back an read the first prayer we pray on Sunday. We're welcoming a God who knows our hearts, minds and secrets, all the impurity and shadows and yet this God desires our welcome... longs for it!
We welcome a God who knows we can't worship, not really, without some divine help to go higher. So, God helps us get out of our own way so we can welcome Him. We welcome a God who alone is holy, who alone is worthy of our praise. We welcome a God who commands barrenness to give birth and death to live! We welcome a God who despite our daily rejections desires the welcome of His church. "God Inhabits The Praises Of His People." Psalm 22:3
We welcome you Father, Son and Holy Spirit to St. Paul's, have your way with us. We are here for you!
God's Peace & Blessings,
Rob+
