"...you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem,
Judea and all Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Acts 1.8
God raised Jesus from the dead! What do we do with that fact?
Jesus said, we are to tell somebody. He told them then, enlarge the circle: first to the city, then the suburbs, then the exurbs.
The Episcopal Church is in a fairly steep decline. We are below 2 million members for the first time. In response to this fact, one bishop said "we need to get better at being a smaller church."
But, that doesn't seem to line up with Jesus' words.
Jesus' expectation was that we increase in our boldness at telling our story. Jesus said, take my story everywhere you go. Every member of a church should be making disciples of Jesus Christ. Every member! How many people have come to Christ because of you? It's not about numbers, it's about souls! So many are broken and hurting. So many are empty and alone.
To witness, is simply to say, in your own way, God is bigger than anything I have faced. Jesus' life has given me new life. Ask God this week to send you to someone who needs to hear God's love in Jesus. Ask God to give you the moment and the words to invite them to pray and worship with you. God wants the church to be bigger.
Jesus said so.
Prayer for today:
Use me Lord to enlarge your kingdom.
God's Peace & Blessings,
Rob+
