Three More Days!
From The Very Reverend Robert C. Wright
Rector

Maundy Thursday... Good Friday... EASTER SUNDAY!

Three more days until we shout:  Alleluia! Christ is Risen!

Some folks will join us only for Sunday; I can't wait to see them. But for us, Sunday comes after we remember the Lord's Last Supper and His new commandment to serve.  Sunday for us comes after we retell how He was betrayed by a friend, arrested and lynched by the government and the religious folks.

What's the point of going through all of that?  Isn't it just better to show up on Sunday?

It's just like sports; the victory is sweeter when there's only a few seconds on the clock and it's looks like losing is inevitable.  It looked like Jesus was losing.  He looked like a failure.  It looked like His commitment to serving, even washing feet, was stupid. It looked His like life of radically trusting God ended worse than those who don't claim to trust God at all.

They were all sure that disappointment was going to be the last word.

Thank God for the Church!  Our ministry is to remind the world: you may feel stupid obeying God's mandate to serve. And you may suffer torment, betrayal, and feel like you're dying alone. But thank God, early on the third day God wins!  And, the crowd goes wild!

"We have become a spectacle to the world...." 1 Corinthians 4:9

God's Peace and Blessings,
