 BEST WISHES TO ALL!

Good morning, St. Paul's!

With Palm Sunday less than 48 hours away, this week's issue of The St. Paul's Post focuses primarily on the upcoming Holy Week and the impending goings on at St. Paul's.

But don't worry... additional content such as ongoing opportunities and in-depth articles about far-range events will return after Easter!

For now, please pay particular attention to the following:
  • Be sure to check out the Sunday School schedule. (Updated Information!) The Toddler Room *is* open for the 11:15 service on Easter Sunday and care will be provided for children ages 3-8 as well.
  •  Please take note: the Administrative Office will be closed on Monday, April 9 (the Monday after Easter). The office will reopen Tuesday, April 10.
  • There are a handful of deadlines looming... please take note and govern your actions accordingly!
 Best to Everyone,

Kelly King

Parish Administrator

CORRECTION: I'd like to apologize to "Mama" Eva Bird for flubbing the spelling of her name. (I typed "Byrd" last week by mistake... Sorry!)

Prayer Retreat: THIS WEEKEND!

Prayer Ministry

As the Word of God tells us, let us pray without ceasing.

St. Paul's Intercessory Prayer Team is hosting an overnight prayer retreat this weekend (Fri & Sat, March 30-31) at Daniel's Prayer Garden in Alpharetta.

The group will meet for dinner on Friday night and the retreat will conclude Saturday around 4:00 pm.  The devotional leader will be Adina Coakley, the daughter of St. Paul's very own Alicia Thomas. There are facilities for at least 200 persons, so everyone is invited. THE MORE, THE PRAYER'IER!

If you don't know about The Prayer Team, it's a group of parishioners that congregates for monthly prayer meets over breakfast and stays aware of prayer needs and concerns via email and phone messages.  Every Sunday you can see them gather at the altar after the 11:15 am worship for prayer petitions and thanksgivings.

Currently comprised of mostly women, the Prayer Team is open to all and male participation is wholeheartedly invited and strongly encouraged.  Please join us and let us together raise our voices in love and praise to our Lord.

For more information, please contact Mama Eva, Chairperson (404-505-2067)

The Easter worship bulletins go to press Monday, April 2. The deadline for submissions was March 30 but we will accept tributes presented at church Palm Sunday, April 1. We do not guarantee that late submissions will be included.

Special Healing Service for Jorge Lawton

Jorge Lawton Healing Service

Sunday, April 15  at  5:00 P.M.

Two weeks from now, St. Paul's own Jorge Lawton will be admitted to Emory Hospital for a bone marrow transplant. Diagnosed 3½ years ago with a rare form of blood cancer (multiple myeloma, medically considered to be "incurable") Jorge's kidneys will not withstand any more chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant using his own healthy stem cells appears to be his last hope.

On Sunday, April 15 - the eve of his hospital admission - St. Paul's is holding an ecumenical Healing Service (with The St. Paul's Choir) to lift Jorge and his medical team up in prayer for strength, endurance, concentration, comfort, and a successful outcome.

This is Jorge's spiritual home, and St. Paul's is his spiritual family. Everyone is invited to be a part of this special worship.

  Also invited are:

  • Jorge's close clergy friends: Methodist, Baptist, Catholic, Islam and other Episcopalians.
  • Internationally recognized singer, Luci Murphy, from Washington, D.C. to sing Violeta Parra's hauntingly beautiful Chilean folk song, Gracias a La Vida {Thanks for Life}.
  • Medical professionals from Emory University's Winship Cancer Institute and other Clinics who served as members of Jorge's medical teams  (including oncology, cardiology, nephrology, endocrinology, opthalmology, oral surgery, and primary care) as a way of thanking them for all they have done for him in the past three years.

There will be a light reception following the service.

Kindly RSVP to Leslie Epps-Bodrick if you plan to attend so that we may accommodate Jorge and his guests accordingly. Thank you!

Water The Trees... PLEASE?!

On Saturday, March 17, St. Paul's installed new plants, a walkway, and an entrance sign.

The walkway and the sign can take care of themselves, but the plants need our help and support!

We are currently soliciting volunteers to water the plants at least 3 times a week. We invite each organization to sponsor a month (or any time span that's comfortable for the size of your group).

Email Gale Taylor for more information or to sign up!
