Judgment
From The Very Reverend Robert C. Wright
Rector

If we are honest, we judge others - sometimes harshly.  But, Jesus is clear, "Do not judge." (Matthew 7:1)

Paul believed Jesus so radically; he wrote, "I do not even judge myself.  I am not aware of anything against myself."(1 Corinthians 4:4)

It might sound like denial, but it's Divine.

Paul had gotten so good at letting Jesus judge him and accepting his forgiveness that he was free.  If we struggle with constant judging of others, it may be that it begins with our harsh judgment of ourselves. What if you turned that behavior, omission, regret or shame over to Jesus' judgment?  Decide today to outsource the judgment of yourself to Jesus!

Give judgement up for Lent!  You could pray today, 'Lord help me to stop judging myself and start believing your assessment of me.'  What is God's assessment of us communicated through Jesus?

Mercy!  Forgiveness!  Beloved!

If we could accept Jesus' judgment of us, just a little more, right now, the world would change.  Earth would better mirror heaven.  And the kingdom of God would be more apparent.

Thought for today

Judgment is spiritual violence.

 Prayer for today:

Lord, help me extend your

ministry of mercy in the world.

God's Peace and Blessings,
