Condemnation
From The Very Reverend Robert C. Wright
Rector

"Jesus was sent into the world, not to condemn the world,

but that the world would be saved through Him."

It is easy to condemn. We do it. Some love to do it. Some don't know how to do anything else.

Jesus didn't have to enter flesh and the world to show us how to condemn each other. Jesus, God in a body, entered our broken world system to show us another way. We need God's help not to condemn others.  We need God's help not to condemn ourselves.

Give it up for Lent!  Right when you learn about another's sin, exactly when your inner voice tells you that you are bad - remember Paul's words, "there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus..."  Remember Jesus' words to those who condemned him, "forgive them Father...

Sin has a sizzle, but salvation has staying power.

Thought for today

I give up condemnation for Lent.

Prayer for today:

Help me to oppose condemnation

whenever I hear it, Lord.
