Were you raised like me? No matter how good you were at something, we were taught not to brag. As the old saying went, "Nobody likes a braggart".
But St. Paul tells us go ahead and brag.
Not about our achievements or possessions of course, but about what God achieved in the Cross of Jesus. We are supposed to boast and brag about how, in Jesus' crucifixion, God shows himself more powerful than the Roman empire then and all the powers now.
Sounds foolish until you start living it. When you live it, you find out human wisdom doesn't measure up to God's foolishness. You find out that God's truth about life, and forgiveness, and generosity are the truest truths around. You find out love isn't weak at all. You find out that God is love! Because of Jesus' Cross we can brag that strangers are becoming family and that faith still moves mountains.
Arrogance says, "I can. I have. I will."
But boldness says, "God can. God has. God will."
If you could brag out about God today, what would you say? Would you brag about what God has done? Or about how perfect God's outreach is to us in Jesus Christ? Whichever, remember Paul's instructions:
" Let the one that boasts, boast in the Lord."
1 Corinthians 1: 31

Thought for today:
Nobody is like the Lord.
Prayer for today:
Open my eyes, Lord, to your greatness,
and I will sing your praise.
