Best Wishes to All!

Greetings, St. Paul's!

The Season of Lent is almost upon us, starting with Ash Wednesday on February 22. Be sure to refer to the calendar (in the sidebar) for details regarding the Imposition of Ashes at 8AM, noon, and 7PM.

In the meantime, we conclude our celebration of Black History Month by honoring The Right Reverend James Theodore Holly this Sunday, February 19. PLUS: it's World Mission Sunday!

Lastly, I invite everyone to join me in congratulating our very own, Very Reverend Rob Wright. As you likely have heard, The Standing Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta has announced five priests (including Father Wright) to stand for election as the next bishop of Atlanta. Click here to read Father Wright's thought on the matter.

Best to everyone,
Kelly King
Parish Administrator
THIS SAT: West Indian Heritage Meeting

St. Paul's West Indian Heritage Committee general meeting will be held on Saturday, February 25 from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM in the Bowden Hall.  The purpose of this meeting is to introduce our newly elected officers, provide an update on the Committee, and plan for our annual event in May.

The meeting is open to any person of West Indian/Caribbean heritage and anyone who has an interest in the West Indian/Caribbean culture. We encourage your attendance and participation!

Email Diana Blackman for more information.

THIS SUN: ECW General Body Meeting

This Sunday, February 19, after the 11:15 service, the Episcopal Church Women (ECW) are holding their first Quarterly General Body Meeting . All women are invited to remain in the sanctuary after worship to take part in leading the initiatives and events that bless our church and serve others.

How to Spot a Member of ECW:

All women parishioners of St. Paul's  are automatically members of ECW... whether you know it or not.  (And now you know!)

Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to participate in the Spirituality, Sisterhood, and Service that the St. Paul's ECW Chapter has to offer!

Email Laura Sams Haynes for more information.

THIS SUN: American Songs & Spirituals Concert

Featuring The St. Paul's Choir!

The St. Paul's Choir will be performing this Sunday at St. Benedict's Episcopal Church on S. Atlanta Road in Smyrna. Tickets are $10, and The St. Paul's Choir has tickets for sale.  Proceeds go to The St. Paul's Choir.  Come and enjoy a brief afternoon of great music from three choirs, the grand finale of which will be The St. Paul's Choir.

The St. Paul's Choir has garnered quite a local and national reputation as they continue to travel and perform in various venues such as The Georgia World Congress Center, The Cathedral of St. Philip, The Cathedral of St. Michael's and All Angels in Barbados, and St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Key West, Florida.

The St. Paul's Choir is grateful to be a part of the rich tradition of dynamic worship here at St. Paul's.  God bless the parish of St. Paul's for its loving support of The St. Paul's Choir.

Lenten Devotionals from ERD

Episcopal Relief & Development's 2012 Lenten Meditations booklets, available online in English and Spanish at  the ERD website, encourage readers to reflect on the need for physical healing in the world, and on the opportunity for spiritual healing during Lent.  Those wishing to receive daily email meditations in both languages may sign up online.  Booklets are also available in print from Episcopal Media Center; regular and expedited shipping options are available.  A variety of additional materials to support Episcopal Relief & Development Sunday, including hope chests, prayer cards and a bulletin insert, are available on the organization's website.

Episcopal Urban Caucus Assembly 2012

The Episcopal Urban Caucus Assembly for 2012 will held in Atlanta February 29 - March 3. Headquarters for EUC 2012 will be the Holiday Inn - Capitol Ave (near Turner Field). The theme of the conference will be "Atlanta 2012: Resurging... Singing New Songs of Faith, Hope and Love". The purpose of EUC is to hold the feet of the Episcopal Church to the fire of social justice. The conference will include a keynote panel discussion, workshops and site visits. There will be opportunities to reflect on the legacy of the Civil Rights movement as we discuss current initiatives toward social justice, and how we might best support them. The EUC Members will tap into the songs of their souls and should emerge from the conference rejuvenated and ready to work for social justice.

The EUC Eucharist will take place on Thursday Evening, March 1st, at St. Paul's. The service will honor new "Saints of the EUC" which will include the Rev. Crayton Dudley. A highlight of EUC 2012 will be a Banquet & Dance at the Holiday Inn on Friday evening, March 2. Providing the music (Old School R&B) will be our very own Cookie Dean and her friends.

A number of St. Paul's members are already planning to participate in EUC 2012. Please consider joining us!

Toddler Room Run-Down

The Toddler Room at St. Paul's is open for young children (ages 1 to 3) so that parents may experience single-minded worship on Sundays.

○ Bring your little ones to Classroom D about 15 minutes before the each service starts.

○ Remember to sign-in and verify your name is on the calendar for a volunteer shift on an upcoming Sunday.

○ St. Paul's provides one professional sitter each week and needs one additional grown-up for each service.  We rely on parents to support the Toddler Room by volunteering their time to help out!

○ Bring two extra diaper changes (if needed) and a covered drink.

○ If Animal Crackers are off-limits,  please bring an appropriate snack so your child is not left out.

○ Pick-up is immediately following each service.

THANK YOU!
