Congratulations!

Greetings, Everyone!

According to Punxsutawney Phil, we're due for another six weeks of winter, but at these temperatures, who's complaining?!?

Meanwhile, back at St. Paul's we've put together another issue of The St. Paul's Post and hope you'll take special notice of the extended deadline for the Leadership Directory submissions, news of the upcoming Urban Caucus, and a whole slew of events on the calendar.

Oh, and be sure check out the Birthday List and join everyone at St. Paul's in wishing Father Wright a HAPPY & SPECTACULAR DAY!

Best to everyone,
Kelly King
Parish Administrator
TOMORROW: West Indian Heritage Meeting

The West Indian Heritage Committee Meeting takes place tomorrow, Saturday, February 4 from 9:30 - 11:30 AM in Bowden Hall at St. Paul's. During the meeting, the Committee will introduce the newly elected officers and plan for the annual cultural event in addition to discussing other pertinent matters. Attendance and participation is encouraged! See you tomorrow!

**IMPORTANT NOTICE: DEADLINE EXTENDED

St. Paul's is putting together a one-stop resource where anyone can access our catalog of committees, list of lay leaders, outline of organizations and more.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS: If you are in a leadership or support position of any capacity at St. Paul's, please follow these links:

Click here for an example form of what's being requested.
> Click here for a blank form you can fill out with your own info.

Updated annually, this new publication will tell parishioners, visitors, and the community what each committee, ministry, and organization at St. Paul's does: their mission, their make-up, and their members. You'll know what they did last year, and have a notion of where they're headed next year. And if you want to get involved (or get more information), you'll know who to contact... and how.

DEADLINE EXTENSION: We will accept submissions through Monday, February 6. The publication will be distributed on February 12 so if your organization is to be included you MUST have your information into the office by then.

Thanks in advance for your support of this important project!

Email Kelly King for more information or to submit your form.

Second Serving: Your Statements Are Ready!

The Year-End Giving Statements were printed last week and

available for pick-up before, in-between, or after services on Sunday. This Sunday (FEB 5) you'll have another chance and on  Monday, February 6, any statements not picked-up will be mailed out.

If it's convenient, be a champ and save a stamp by picking up your Giving Statements when you're in church this week. Thanks!

Email Kelly King for more information.

Why Should You Pledge?!

Recently, a faithful parishioner asked, "Why should I pledge?"

She didn't mean why should she contribute to the church (in fact, she does every week without fail) but the question was really: "Why should I promise to do something I'm already doing?"

What a good question!

The reason we ask you to pledge is so St. Paul's can reliably - and responsibly - plan each year to work within our means. If you share with us your plans for giving, then we can properly anticipate how to allocate the funds we receive and act accordingly.

A pledge isn't a way to pin you down, but a method for freeing the church from uncertainty. The more we know, the better we can serve you... and God.

St. Paul's counts on each and every parishioner to pledge their support for another great year of growth, grace, and glory. Let us know what we can afford to do for you, and remember to please give thoughtfully, comfortably, and cheerfully

Pledge cards are still available in the church, the administrative offices, and online.

Town Hall Meeting Follow-Up

discussion bubbles Thank you to everyone who came out to our first Town Hall Meeting on Friday, January 27. We had a good turnout and shared some great ideas. If you missed it, you'll get another chance as we'll be having periodic meetings throughout the year (dates will be announced in advance). Our Town Hall Meetings are  casual, open-floor discussions about whatever topics you bring up and an opportunity for parishioners to ask questions, share concerns, or offer constructive suggestions.  Lasting about an hour, these meetings are a great way to keep the lines of communication open and clear. St. Paul's is listening... see you next time!

Sunday School Schedule

February is an exciting month for our Sunday School Students!

This month in Godly Play, we are learning about the Parables of the Good Shepherd, the Good Samaritan, the Great Pearl, and the Sower.  Our Primary and Intermediate Classes will learn about historical figures in Black History and the Judges of Israel, using the book of Judges from the Bible.  Finally, our Middle and High School students will also celebrate figures in Black History and read gospel lessons relevant to these figures.

TODDLERS: This Is For YOU

The Toddler Room at St. Paul's is now open for young children (ages 1 to 3) who are looking for a safe and enriching new hangout while your folks are at church. Make friends, play with toys, toss back a few Animal Crackers and enjoy being a toddler while your parents experience a worry-free worship service.

To participate in this important  program, please arrive 15 minutes before the service starts to sign-in and to register your mom or dad for a volunteer shift on an upcoming Sunday. St. Paul's is providing one professional sitter each week and need one additional grown-up for each service.  Please let your parents know we're counting on them to support the Toddler Room by volunteering their time to help out!

Be sure to please bring two extra diaper changes (if you wear them) and a covered drink. Also, if you can't have Animal Crackers please ask a parent to bring an appropriate snack for you so you don't feel left out.

Pick-up is immediately following each service. Thanks!

Email Joy Jones for more information.

Episcopal Urban Caucus Assembly 2012

The Episcopal Urban Caucus Assembly for 2012 will held in Atlanta February 29 - March 3. Headquarters for EUC 2012 will be the Holiday Inn - Capitol Ave (near Turner Field). The theme of the conference will be "Atlanta 2012: Resurging... Singing New Songs of Faith, Hope and Love". The purpose of EUC is to hold the feet of the Episcopal Church to the fire of social justice. The conference will include a keynote panel discussion, workshops and site visits. There will be opportunities to reflect on the legacy of the Civil Rights movement as we discuss current initiatives toward social justice, and how we might best support them. The EUC Members will tap into the songs of their souls and should emerge from the conference rejuvenated and ready to work for social justice.

The EUC Eucharist will take place on Thursday Evening, March 1st, at St. Paul's. The service will honor new "Saints of the EUC" which will include the Rev. Crayton Dudley. A highlight of EUC 2012 will be a Banquet & Dance at the Holiday Inn on Friday evening, March 2. Providing the music (Old School R&B) will be our very own Cookie Dean and her friends.

A number of St. Paul's members are already planning to participate in EUC 2012. Please consider joining us!

Haiti Event Is On Hold

The event hosted by St. Paul's and St. Bart's to benefit the

construction project at the St. Marc's School, in Bois Blanc, Haiti has been postponed. Regretfully, ticket sales have not satisfied the minimum requirement for to ultimately benefit the schoolchildren. If you made a donation for the silent auction, please email Jennifer Bonds or Michelle Whittaker.

Hunger Walk/Run 2012!

Hunger Walk 2012: Community Outreach coordinators are launching an early bird campaign to raise the most money ever for Hunger Walk (Sunday March 11). To that end, St. Paulites may begin making online donations in the "Hunger Walk" box of Access Financial Management for St. Paul's Episcopal Church today!

Please consider periodic donations so we can reach our goal; also, please forward the website address to friends and supporters for their donations. If you prefer to write a check for one of our Sunday offerings, please make it out to "St. Paul's Episcopal Church" and write "Episcopal Charities/ Hunger Walk 2012" in the memo line. For more information about Hunger Walk/Run 2012, please contact Janita Poe or Julia Wallace-Abrams.
