Isaiah 43:18-19
Do not remember the former things; neither consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it?
A New Thing

How about that! We have a God who is always doing a new thing! As Christians we are constantly invited to live in the joy and excitement of worshipping a God who specializes in 'new.' God makes it possible for believers to get new life, experience new growth, and conquer new territory. We know all about that because, as a church, we've partnered with God in His newness for well over a hundred years. That's the only way a tiny Bible study group in 1880 could have become our St. Paul's, a still growing church with 970+ membership, at a time when the average church membership in our denomination is less than a 10th of that number.
We know our walk with God in that newness is not always comfortable. Walking into 'God's new' often brings a season of growing pains, the discomfort of having to shift our perspectives, or of having to experience the unfamiliar. So God equips us with faith that overcomes the fear of discomfort. St. Paul's has given me the gift of watching our church be 'church;' our forward momentum in God has never been stopped by fear. That's why as sad as I am to leave this church I love so much, I am still excited that the God Who is doing a new thing in my life, is also doing a new thing, right here and right now, at St. Paul's. You ought to be excited too..."Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth....
Thought for the day: Faith overcomes all fear.
Prayer: God, do a new thing in me!

Stewardship Reflection - A Prayer

As we move forward on this journey together while we continue to serve God, please keep this Stewardship Prayer close to your heart: O God, I resolve to put You first in my life. I recognize that You have blessed me with all that I have and all that I am. I commit to giving back to You the first portion of my blessings. Doing so may seem scary at times, but I hear Your reassurance in Scripture: Do not worry anymore," and know that I can depend on You. I resolve to sacrifice when necessary but always to do so out of a spirit of sincere love, just as your Son, Jesus did for me. I humbly accept the challenge to share from my means rather than my excess. I recognize that being a good steward is nothing more than being truly Christian. I thank You Lord for blessing me and I trust Your love. Dear God, I resolve to be generous with my time, talent and treasure, giving in proportion to the gifts I have received. At times I may fail, but I pledge to keep trying. In so doing I will confidently live each day Serving You from the heart.

Congratulations to St. Paul's Touring ChoirFrom a glowing review written on St. Paul's Touring Choir performance in Key West: The new Music in Paradise organization presented another concert in Key West last month, this time by a 45-singer choir, the St. Paul's Touring Choir, conducted by Trey Clegg, based in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Atlanta. A brilliantly supportive accompaniment, on piano and organ, was also by Clegg. | | The choir at rehearsal in Key West. |

Thanksgiving is less than 2 weeks away. It's time to come together and share a meal, but for many, it's not easy. Help the St. Paul's Food Pantry to distribute more than 100 bags of Thanksgiving food for our families.
Please bring a can of greens & a can of sweet potatoes to church on Sunday, November 13th. A simple donation of $5.00 would also help to purchase turkeys.
Thank you so much!

Adopt A Family for Christmas
For the past 6 years, the St. Paul's Episcopal Church Outreach Committee has organized the "Adopt A Family for Christmas" program. Despite the economic downturn and its effect on nearly everyone, you, St. Paul's has continued to generously support our surrounding church community and we hope we can count on you again this holiday season.
We have taken great care and consideration of today's economic climate and as a result, we have limited the "Adopt A Family for Christmas" program to 25 families per school, for students in grades K-5. Can we count on you to adopt a family? They need you. We need you. With the help of designated school representatives, we will be able to better target and identify those students with the greatest needs.
The "Adopt A Family for Christmas" holiday celebration will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011, from 11:00am -2:00pm. Face painting, magic show and the Secret Santa shop introduced by the youth of St. Paul's are all part of the festivities. At 11:30am, gifts will be presented to the students. At noon, Santa will arrive! A hot lunch will be served to our guests. It will be a fun filled time for ALL!
If you are interested in participating in this event, a sign up table will be available in Bowden Hall on Sunday, November 13th. Please stop by to select your adopted family or sign-up and volunteer as a Santa Elf.

Hospitality for International Students Needed
AMIS provides opportunities for fellowship, friendship, and hospitality to international students from over a hundred locations outside the United States who attend colleges and universities in the metro-Atlanta area. With the support of Spelman College, Morehouse School of Medicine, Emory University, and Ebenezer Baptist Church, among others, AMIS connects international students with "host" families and individuals in a number of different ways, providing students with opportunities for meaningful and personal relationships with American families and individuals.
AMIS is currently seeking applicants to host international students during the upcoming holiday season when many are unable to return home during that time. Among those requesting host families are students at Atlanta Metropolitan College, Candler School of Theology, Clark Atlanta University, Emory University, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Interdenominational Theological Seminary, Morehouse College, Morris Brown College, and Spelman College.
Applications may be obtained from the AMIS website at www.amis-inc.org or at www.christmasih.org.
Prematurity Awareness Month The March of Dimes h as designatedNovember as Prematurity Awareness Month and November 17 as Prematurity Awareness Day. The March of Dimes wants women to know that there are steps they can take to reduce their risk of premature birth, which is the number one killer of newborns and a major cause of serious health problems. One of the best things a woman can do for her baby is to get a medical check up before she gets pregnant. If she's healthy, her baby has a better chance of being born healthy and on time. Babies born too early may have serious health problems. It costs society billions of dollars every year. More than half a million babies are born prematurely every year, and the number is rising. During November, help the March of Dimes fight premature birth. Please visit marchofdimes.com to learn how.
