"Keep doing those things you learned from me...."

Phil.4:9

Inspired and inspring.

Fr. Rob Wright

Paul was inspired by Jesus and he inspired others. He encouraged others because he was encouraged by Jesus. That's how it goes. We get filled up and we fill up others. Inspired is in- spirited. We welcome God's spirit and it thrives in us. Others take notice and they are filled up out of the overflow. With God there is always overflow!

Who are you inspiring to be a Christian? How are you inspiring them? The opposite of this is empire- ing. Most people do this. They get filled up on the messages of the empire: vanity, greed, despair, fear. It doesn't take much to be empire- ing, just sit down and turn on the news. Drink it in and share the bad news everywhere you go. Paul was so inspired by Jesus he wrote and preached about Him all the time. He traveled everywhere he could inspiring others to live the new life available through Jesus, a life the empire cannot offer. God has put you in front of someone who needs to be inspired by the inspiration you've received from the Lord.

Thought for today: Jesus had inspired me.

Prayer for today: Use my life, Lord, as an inspiration to others.

+Rob

Stewardship Reflection - Time, Talent & Treasure.... it is what we do

Every week a member of the St. Paul's congregation will share their reflection on Stewardship.  Below is an excerpt from Brian Boutte's reflection.  Follow the link at the end to read the full offering.

Brian BoutteHave you heard the story of The Other Wes Moore? It is a happy and tragic story of two boys both named Wes Moore raised a few blocks from each other in a tough Baltimore neighborhood. Both boys were fatherless, had their own gangs in the city and had their run-ins with the police. However one became a Rhode Scholar, decorated veteran, a White House Fellow and a successful businessman. The other Wes was convicted to life in prison.

The difference I believe was stewardship, specifically time.
 A Call to Action for the Episcopal Churchmen

Men's Ministry

     As many of you are aware, October has historically been considered as MEN'S MONTH at St. Paul's. Over the past several years, however, the organization has witnessed a decline in male participation in the men's month activities and in church activities as well. We are interested in turning this low participation around and are making an urgent plea for all male parishioners to become more involved in the planned activities of the organization and the Church.

     In addition to the two (2) planned activities of the Churchmen (Men and Boy's Luncheon on Saturday, Oct. 15, and Men's Day on Oct. 16), the organization is urging all men to become involved in the many activities going on throughout the Church. These activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Outreach activities;
  • The Choir(s);
  • Ushers;
  • Visitation of the sick;
  • Upkeep of the buildings and grounds;
  • Children's ministries;
  • Many others.

     The Episcopal Churchmen is asking that all men step forward to make this a banner year for male participation in keeping with the organization's theme, which is

"ACTIVE MALE MEMBERS GROWING A CHURCH"
