The Men's Final Four Needs You
Volunteer TODAY!

Nothing says welcome to San Antonio better than smiling volunteers ready to roll out the South Texas red carpet for Final Four guests and fans!

Hosting major events such as a Men's Final Four in San Antonio would not be possible without the commitment of our talented and dedicated volunteers. We estimate that nearly 2,000 volunteers are needed to fill more then 3,500 shifts for the 2008 NCAA Men's Final Four. Volunteer responsibilities include a wide range of tasks, from greeting incoming fans at the airport to helping with NCAA Hoop City® refreshed by Coca-Cola®and transporting VIP's. You can choose from shifts that begin March 29 and run through April 8 so you'll be sure to find the perfect volunteer shift that meets your schedule and fits your personality.

A minimum of two shifts are required as well as attendance at one orientation session either March 25 or 26.  And of course, we welcome all who prefer to volunteer for more than two shifts!  All volunteers will receive an official volunteer uniform and invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation Party (May 22, 2008).

Don't Have a Game Ticket? Don't worry.
The Men's Final Four has something for everyone!

Save the dates and mark your calendar, the Final Four has much more to offer than three exciting basketball games!

Since San Antonio hosted its last Men's Final Four in 2004, many new events have been added to enhance the fan experience.  The new events include The Big Dance®, a free four-day music festival, the Road to the Final Four® 5K, and Final Four Friday™, a free day at the Alamodome where fans can watch the four competing teams practice and finish out their Friday experience with The DiGiorno NABC All-Star Game, showcasing the top collegiate seniors in an American vs. National match-up.  They join past event favorites like Hoop City refreshed by Coca-Cola, The Dome Dribble to Hoop City, and YES® Clinics fueled by POWERADE®.

In the Spotlight

With each new edition, SALOC will spotlight a group or individual worthy of recognition for their contribution toward the success of the 2008 NCAA Men's Final Four.  For our first opportunity, we would be remiss if we did not start at the top with SALOC's chairman, Mr. Pat Frost, president of Frost National Bank.  Pat has been involved as the chair of SALOC since the 2004 NCAA Men's Final Four and has again accepted the challenge to help San Antonio deliver another fantastic event in 2008.

In addition to leading the executive committee and overseeing SALOC staff, Pat's number one responsibility is fundraising for SALOC's multi-event operating budget.  Almost single-handedly, Pat has managed to raise more than $6.5 million dollars for the 2002 Women's Final Four, the 2004 Men's Final Four, the 2008 Men's Final Four and the upcoming 2010 Women's Final Four. When all is said and done, these events collectively will have generated more than $200 million of in economic impact for San Antonio.

Anytime you bump into Pat he never fails to mention the next NCAA event while pulling out a brochure to explain how to get involved.  He has spoken to just about every local and area civic group over the past eight years. In between events, Pat stays active with the partners of SALOC on the bidding process for future events.

This truly would not happen without him!
