PatersonPress.com receives Stuart Awbrey Award
PatersonPress.com Editor Joe Malinconico (pictured left), was presented five awards from the NJ Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists at their June 10th reception at Dow Jones Headquarters. We launched PatersonPress.com in 2010 to provide the Silk City a robust and timely news publication that would ensure an informed and engaged citizenry. The site has been incredibly successful in fulfilling its mission.
Among the many accolades, we are especially honored to receive the Stuart Awbrey Award for "overall exceptional coverage of the local community, showing the rare instance of a hyperlocal news site blanketing its town like a big-city daily."
What makes this truly remarkable is that PatersonPress.com was the first online publication to ever receive this award. Special thanks to all the Paterson residents who continue to read and to contribute to this winning enterprise. See what all the hoopla is about, check out PatersonPress.com. |
CITIZEN LEADER PROFILE: STEVE STERN
Elected to the Local County Committee
For the past year, Steve Stern has been active with The Citizens Campaign as a star citizen journalist with his own political blog and a volunteer videographer at our events. Now, Steve has a new title to add to his resume, "County Committeeman." Steve filed a nominating petition and was elected to his local party. By serving on the county committee, Steve will now have a say on important party decisions like candidate selection, choosing a party platform, or even filling legislative vacancies
