Insurance Reform Gaining Attention and Momentum
Last week New Jersey State Comptroller Matthew Boxer issued another astounding report, detailing waste and abuse and the Delaware River Port Authority, particularly in the area of insurance contracts.
You can read the entire report here. (Check out pages 44-45, where The Citizens Campaign's model "Best Price Insurance Reform" is highlighted.)
We're not waiting for the legislature to fix this problem. Instead, citizens are getting results in their own hometowns. For example, Hamilton residents recently researched how their school district hires brokers and obtains insurance coverage. After the citizen's proposal, the School Board took the first step by adopting a competitive process for designating brokers.
