New Jersey Ranks #1 in Anti-Corruption Laws

Considering New Jersey's reputation you may be surprised to hear we landed the number one spot in anti-corruption reforms, but the fact is over the past ten years we have made significant improvements in reforming public contracting, increasing transparency, and demanding accountability at the state-level. 

 

We believe New Jersey's #1 ranking is in large measure due to the grassroots efforts of our citizens. Following a string of high-profile corruption cases, we didn't resort to the "throw the bums out" line of thinking. Instead, citizens demanded and gained adoption of laws which expanded transparency and accountability. But, we have a lot more work to do. (Read More)

Our Model Insurance Reform is endorsed by the Star-Ledger

After a series of FBI corruption probes and arrests, we launched an initiative to reform how towns and counties obtain insurance coverage. The Citizens Campaign believes that a little competition and accountability can guarantee that cities and towns get the most bang for their buck. 

 

And now the Star-Ledger has endorsed our proposal: "Before we cut budgets to the bone, let's cut out the political profiteers." (Read the Star-Ledger Editorial

 

Just last week the City of Camden adopted our model ordinance. (Read More)

Time to Join the Party - Nominating Petitions due April 2nd.

It's that time of year again, when thousands of neighborhood-level political party positions are up for grabs! There are more than 24,000 local seats in the Republican and Democratic Parties, why not take a seat and have a say in who your local candidates are and how campaign cash is spent!

 

Community residents who are interested in gaining experience, visibility, and influence over policy-making in their town should definitely take advantage of these positions. (Read More)
