What's the Assignment?

Engage Occupy Wall Street Movement in Constructive LeadershipThe message we hear from the Occupy Wall Street Movement is that people do not feel like they have power and they are frustrated. The next step for this group is to become politically empowered, and that means power beyond the ballot box.  Your assignment?  Tell people about The Citizens Campaign.  Become a Political Navigator. Tell people how they can take charge of political parties by taking a leadership role as a political party committee person. Invite someone you know who would make a great leader to take the class in Political Party Leadership. Let's offer people an opportunity to lead.  Share the new video, You don't have to be an elected official to get things done and show people how they can take charge.

Take Charge: Engage in Environmental Leadership Now
Statewide workshops held this fall by The Citizens Click to play video!Campaign and Sustainable Jersey gave citizens the tools to get results on environmental issues. Watch the video highlights of the last workshop. Use our toolkit to participate in the environmental leadership of your community. Find the tools you can use to get results, like "Ready to Adopt" laws,  environmental proposals that are ready to be voted on which give citizens the power to act as Citizen Legislators. For example, does your town have a Green Team? You can propose one! Use The Citizens Campaign's expert coaches to give you insider pointers on how to get this done, or how to get appointed to the Green Team once its created.  Also,  new environmental leadership classes are available online. For example, you can learn how to become a Citizen Journalists who provides the news to keep your community informed and engaged on environmental issues.

Calling All Videographers! The Citizens Campaign Wants You!
Success stories motivate others to take charge !Sharing videos about the results that people are getting using The Citizens Campaign's toolkit  is a powerful way to motivate others to join the citizen leadership movement. That's why we are recruiting videographers to capture these success stories.  Projects will include shooting short video profiles and testimonials of success stories of people who used the toolkit and got things done,  capturing footage for newsreels of stories about the movement in the cities and covering the progress of reforms like Pay to Play or the creation of a Green Team.  Also we need people to shoot our conferences and panels, help record the new online classes in video and even make fun promotional videos. This video content will be used on The Citizens Campaign website, YouTube Channel, Facebook, newsletter, mailings and participating hyperlocal news sites and will be shared by our supporters. From flip cameras to professional equipment, we want you if you love making videos and care about spreading the word. From advice on equipment purchases and best practices to actually shooting and editing, be a part of this unique team that is bringing to life the campaign for NJ. If you're not a videographer, you can be an ambassador and share our video content with your friends and co-workers. Contact Caroline Pozycki at caroline@thecitizenscampaign.com  or 732-548-9798 x8 to volunteer.
Former Mrs. New Jersey Joins The Citizens Campaign
as the New Warren County Chair
Leadership New Jersey partnership produces new County Chair
Christy Tighe

The Citizens Campaign welcomes Christy Tighe, former Mrs. New Jersey, as the new Warren County Chair of our statewide movement. County Chairs serve as regional spokespeople and act as liaisons between the campaign and organizations and citizens in their county. They also help to recruit new leaders. Christy first met The Citizens Campaign's Chairman Harry Pozycki when he spoke at the Middlesex County School Boards Association meeting earlier this year. Then as a member of the 2011 class of Leadership New Jersey, she  participated in a session taught by The Citizens Campaign on how to get results and was so impressed that she got her whole family to sign up. Christy is County Activities Coordinator at the New Jersey School Boards Association.
