The June 9th Summit unleashed 1,300 Jersey citizens excited to take powerful volunteer leadership roles in our government and political parties. Their enthusiasm to spread the word  about the Jersey Call to Service is generating numerous City and Regional Call to Service Summits and Conferences planned throughout the State this fall.  Visit our EVENTS PAGE and stay in touch on FACEBOOK to keep up with news about the Jersey Call to Service.

Click to view photos from the Camden County Call to Service SummitThe first regional Summit took place on September 14th. The Camden County Call to Service Summit (pictured above), attracted over 130 citizens who turned out to mingle with and learn skills from elected officials, business leaders, nonprofit leaders and fellow citizens about opportunities for constructive citizen leadership in government and politics and the advantage of a no blame approach.

"The No Blame Approach"
The no blame approach is the essence of the Citizens' Campaign's Call to Service. It means that instead of leading with criticism, one should lead by offering a constructive solution. The no blame approach is the anecdote to the politics of blame.

Citizen Leader Calls Fellow Trentonians to Service

Christine Donahue, Citizen LeaderChristine Donahue, of Trenton, NJ answered the Jersey Call to Service online in February 2010, and took our online class in Citizen Journalism. She wanted to inform her community about important issues. Recently, the Trenton Times published her piece, inviting her fellow citizens to the Trenton Call to Service, which Christine has been helping to organize. Here is an exerpt;

"On Sept. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at Thomas Edison State College, Trenton's citizens will have an opportunity to learn ways to encourage responsible government. Participants will have an opportunity to learn skills such as how to create and change city ordinances and the path to municipal board appointments, one of the power centers of government. The "Call to Service" (join the campaign.com) sponsored by the Citizens' Campaign will help Trenton's residents to move forward with a progressive dialogue for change. I hope you can make it." She has been very active in the community since moving to Trenton's South Ward, where she is a homeowner, a working professional, and a yoga teacher on the side. Christine will be a presenter at the Trenton event on the Citizen Legislator Panel. She took the Citizen Legislator Class and created and gained adoption of a constructive common interest proposal in Trenton, limiting the hours that ice cream trucks can play music. She has also run for office and helped others to run.

Volunteers Needed
The June 9th Summit attracted over 1,300 New Jerseyans who came out to answer the Call to Service. In order to support this incredible response and help people get active in the leadership of our government and political parties, the Citizens' Campaign needs volunteers to help us respond. We need help with mailings, phone banks and Summit registrations. We also need people who can take photographs and videotape. This Call to Service campaign is made possible by the work of New Jersey citizens. Call or email Caroline at 732-548-9798x8 or caroline@jointhecampaign.com to volunteer. Volunteers are especially needed for the next eight weeks.
