21st Century Day |
|
Day Middle School is a great place and with your help it can be even better. The Day PTO tries hard but like everyone else these days we're having trouble making ends meet. Our year-round fundraising efforts not only pay for directories and teacher luncheons but so much more:
- Day's first ever "Green Day" and Deaf Awareness Day
- Progressive Dinner for parents
- 4 complete smart boards setups
- permits for at school events such as Faculty Foul-ups, the recent college financing seminar, back to school picnic
- scholarships for students who may not be able to afford the fees for field trips
Add in student assignment books, library books, Creative Arts & Sciences assemblies, Day Serves and hospitality (such as coffee for meetings) and the PTO has spent over $16,000 so far this school year.
One major mission of the PTO is to fund teacher grant requests. Last year the PTO was able to fulfill grant requests totaling more than $15,000, with a large portion of those funds going towards classroom technology. This year we've received grant requests in excess of $26,000 but our available funds fall far short of that number. That why we're launching a campaign we're calling...
"$21 for 21st Century Day" |
|
Here's how it works... |
|
We're asking every Day household to donate $21 for each child in their family that attends Day Middle School.
$21?? What can $21 buy, you say?
Well, it can buy a large gourmet pizza, a week's worth of lattes at Starbucks, two and a half dozen Dunkin Donuts, (you get the idea) OR....
Combine that $21 with many others and it can pay for...
as well as numerous other requests!
$21 per child - that's all we ask
(but if you'd like to give more we'll certainly welcome it...) |
|
But wait, there's more!!! |
|
Every family that donates to this campaign will have their name entered into drawings for one of our fabulous prizes (one entry per family):
-
- "Go Past Crossing Guard for a Day" pass**
- Tickets to Boston College football, hockey & basketball games
- Gift certificate to Ariadne restaurant in Newtonville
- Family portrait photography session
- Gift certificate to Young Broadcasters of America classes plus photo autographed by Red Sox's Clay Buchholz
** 5 winners each!
We will draw names for 2 prizes at the end of each week starting Monday, April 5th and then on Fridays for the following 6 weeks (except for vacation week). Deadline to enter for the final drawing will be 10am Friday, May 21st with the last drawing to take place at 2:30pm that same day. Winners will be contacted by the PTO. |
|
Don't forget the kids! |
|
In addition to the prize drawings, the grade-level team with the highest household participation (percentage of team) will win a homemade cookie party. YUM!
Date of cookie party to be arranged at convenience of team teachers. |
