Dear Day families,

The online balloting is open until tomorrow at 1pm to elect five Day parents/guardians to represent our community on the principal Selection Advisory Committee.  See the details in yesterday's email to vote. Please use only the direct link from our email to vote!
 
Several alert readers wrote in with questions:
 
When I try to vote, I see a message saying "We're sorry. You have already taken this survey" -- what can I do?  The short answer: Contact us, we'll straighten it out. But please don't leave this until the last minute! The survey is set to close automatically tomorrow at 1pm.    The long answer: Constant Contact allows subscribers to vote once and only once. Perhaps you forwarded your email to friends reminding them to vote. If you did, and those friends voted using the link in your email, Constant Contact counts that as your vote. Urge friends to vote using their own email!
 
Two of us share one email address / I usually forward the emails to my husband/wife/partner - how can we both vote?  Let us know. We'll need the other person to contact us separately with his or her votes.
 
I'm on your mailing list, but I don't currently have a child at Day - may I vote? No. Only votes from current Day parents/guardians are counted.

  • March 7: Ads placed in Boston Sunday Globe, New York Times, Education Week and other publications. (Application deadline: March 24)
  • March 9: Informational meeting with Day faculty (3:30 PM)
  • March 9: Informational meeting with Day parents (Day auditorium, 7 PM)
  • March 15: Formation of Selection Advisory Committee (SAC) -- names to be submitted to HR office by this date
  • March 15: Faculty and Parent Surveys due
  • March 23: First meeting of SAC to review calendar and procedural guidelines -- Ed. Center, Room 210 (3:30-6 PM)
  • March 31: Meeting of SAC to develop interview questions and distribute resumes -- Ed. Center, Room 304 (3:30-6 PM)
  • March 31- April 5: SAC members review resumes during this period
  • April 5: SAC members return rating sheets to HR Office
  • April 6: SAC members meet in Ed. Center, Room 304, select 8-10 candidates for semifinalist interviews (3:30-6 PM)
  • SAC interviews semifinalists and selects 3-4 finalists:
  • April 12 (8:00 AM -5:00 PM ) Ed. Center, Room 210
  • April 13 (8:00 AM-5:00 PM) Ed. Center, Room 210
  • April 15 (11:00 AM-5:00 PM) Ed. Center, Room 210
  • April 26 - April 30 Finalists visit Day Middle School
  • April 26 - April 30 Newton teams (from SAC) visit finalists' schools
  • April 26 - April 30 Superintendent interviews finalists and checks references
  • May 12: Superintendent will appoint new principal
