Dear Families,

I am writing to tell you that I will be leaving Day at the end of this school year in order to join my husband who is living and working in New York City.  After eighteen years in leadership roles in Newton, I plan to look for an administrative position in a school district in metropolitan New York.

 

It has been an honor and privilege to lead Day Middle School as its principal for the past six years.  I have enjoyed working with you and your children, and it is hard to leave such a wonderful school community, but this is the best decision for me and my family.  I thank you for your support over the years, and look forward to working with you from now until the end of June.

 

I am making this announcement today so that the district will have ample time to find a strong principal to lead our school.  The Human Resources Department is aware of my decision and ready to begin a search.  I am sure that there will be opportunities for parent input in the search process, and I am confident that a new principal can be in place by the beginning of the summer.  Please know that I will do everything that I can to make a smooth transition for the new principal.

 

I will let students know of my plans through an announcement tomorrow morning on W.O.R. D.  If you prefer to discuss this with your child before the announcement, please feel free to do so.
