A message from Setti Warren, Mayor-elect
To my NewtonSERVES friends and colleagues:

Please join me and pass this message along to all your friends & colleagues. (I apologize if you are on more than one of my lists and receive duplicate copies!)

Inauguration Celebration Starts with "Newton Gives"
Thursday, DEC. 31 from 11:00am to 3:00pm
At the Hyde Community Center, Newton Highlands

There is no time like the holidays - particularly during difficult times like these - to give back to others. So we are starting the Inauguration festivities off with a service project entitled "Newton Gives". Organized by newly elected Ward 5 Alderman, John Rice in conjunction with Newton Community Service Center, the Parks & Recreation Department as well as several local charities, the day of service will take place at Hyde Center and Playground beginning at 11am on Thursday, December 31st.

Residents will be able to participate in a series of initiatives including the building of an outdoor skating rink for the Newton Highlands playground and lots of the indoor activities, including the packing of gift boxes for the troops stationed in the mountains of Afghanistan.

So here's how you can help!

   -  Join us at the Hyde Center to help us build the skating rink, or to
help indoors as we organize gift boxes for soldiers, and toys and
      clothes for children
   -  Bring any canned goods you can spare
   -  Bring your gently used children's clothes, toys and books.

Check out Our List for the Troops <   http://www.settiwarren.com/troops.html   >
- and bring 12 of anything you can to the Brigham Community House,
20 Hartford Street, Newton Highlands before December 31st.

THEN TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS TO COME TO HYDE COMMUNITY CENTER ON DECEMBER 31 FROM 11AM TO 3PM TO HELP MAKE NEWTON GIVES REALLY SPECIAL.

Let us gather as a community and give back. Please visit my website,
www.settiwarren.com   for more details or call my office at 617 795 0579.

Thanks for all you do!

Best,

Setti
