Invitation from Dr. Paul Stein |
As part of a recently developed evaluation process for Newton's principals, Dr. Paul Stein, Deputy Superintendent, is visiting Day to hear from teachers, staff, and parents regarding Gina Healy's performance as principal. This is part of the formal written evaluations of all Newton principals, to get feedback from parents -- and teachers and staff -- in relation to the following standards, which are based on the Educational Leadership Policy Standards of the Council of Chief State School Officers:
- Shared vision for the school supported by all stakeholders
- School culture and instructional program conducive to excellent, innovative student learning and staff professional growth
- Management of the organization, operation, and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment
- Collaboration with the faculty and responsiveness to diverse community interests
- Professional integrity
- Communication skills and political savvy that positively influence the political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context so as to encourage respectful and responsible behavior among all members of the school community
- Professional Growth including critical reflection upon his own practice.
Dr. Stein welcomes parents comments regarding these standards via email or by phone (617-559-6115).
Dr. Stein will also be available to meet with parents in person on Tuesday December 8th from 2:30 to 4pm, which coincides with one of the Parent Conferences dates. The meetings will be held in the Student Services Conference Room (2nd floor, above the main office). On Tuesday, Dr. Stein hopes to meet with parents in groups of up to 4 people for about fifteen minutes of confidential conversation. Please register with Lori Gandolfo (by email or by phone at 617-559-9100) for the time you would like to come. |
